I was working so I didn't see a kick. Great to get another 3 points, though. Could be top by rights in Saturday night.

Re: Lets zero in and get these Monkeys off our back. BWFC v Birmingham 8pm 22/8/18

Agree with this. Home games will be tougher. I think a lot will depend on set pieces - at home I think our goals may come from them. However, if Ameobi is fit I reckon our chances increase as on his day he is a match winner at home, in a way Noone/Buckley certainly aren't. Interested to see how Par...

Sweet as a nut.

Fingers crossed Sam I Am is back for the Super Whites to put on another show for the cameras.

Bolton 2-1 Birmingham
Sammy or Noone, either could have some fun against Pedersen. He's apparently really struggling to adapt to this division.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Joe Williams is the latest link, on loan from Everton. Have heard good things. Aggressive, pretty quick and can pass a ball. Saw him a couple of times and thought he was impressive for his age.

Re: Lets zero in and get these Monkeys off our back. BWFC v Birmingham 8pm 22/8/18

My view is still that it'll be harder this season to find a way of playing as the home team than away. I happen to think we can turn Birmingham over, if we can keep things tight and concentration high at the back - but Monk is no mug and Birmingham have some decent players. It'll come down to intens...

If you read Ken's statement he says we had £900K turned down on a "loan to buy". Aneke? A
The reported asking price for Aneke is 250k.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Jerome or Nugent would be a loan. Nothing else. So it would be short termism but I suspect there aren’t many loan to buy strikers out there available on our budget. It looks like all the deals we've offered thus far (or all the ones we've heard about) have been loan to buy. Like you say, the budget...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Nugent is a dead end, for me. He's not the "type" to play in Parky's system (unless we are looking for a lad to play in a 'home' system), he's on high wages at Derby and he's got no resale value at 33 - also worth remembering we already have a veteran striker on the books. No doubting he's a decent ...

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Come off it. Yes at his peak he did that. But you know as well as I do, that he had a Blackpool team built around him. He'll not have that luxury here. Would be a total waste of a squad place IMO. Not to mention his best days are behind him now. I felt the same about bringing in Gary O'Neil, but he...

Would that option be a luxury player who sits on the bench?
Someone who can spot a pass and spread play.

Re: You can't buy character; but you can apparently get it for free.

Good to hear! Which players have there been recently who've had character? It seems like a while since they were a team of battlers. Wheater is a limited player, but he's got proper character. Lowe is a leader and Vela is showing this season that, in terms of work rate, he can lead by example. Olko...

Not arguing for arguing's sake, which people do you mean, fans or people outside the club? . Amonst our own fans I doubt anybody underestimated it at all and our problems were media fodder all season. The club's situation and our one-step away from the I.R was never underestimated as a prime reason...

Apparently we are looking at Charlie Adam on loan....
Can't say I'd be thrilled if he was being signed for the #10 role, but as a deep-lying passer he could offer a new option. We certainly need the type.

You can't buy character; but you can apparently get it for free.

I was talking to some mates of mine who are unfortunate enough to be Reading and QPR fans and the main complaint I heard from them was the lack of "character" in their sides at the moment. "You can't buy it at our level. When people have real characters and leaders on the pitch, they hold onto them....

100% away record! Haven't been behind all season. We're going up*! *We may not be going up but f*ck enjoy this while it lasts! Aye, I think I'd probably prefer an attainable top half finish for the season as a target and keep building both team and finances. If, by some miracle, we did go up, all t...

Re: Will we be dishing out a right Royal thrashing? Reading v BWFC 18/8/18 3pm

Lowe and Vela together are nearly worth an extra midfielder with their work rate. If we can add Ozzy in there for a bit of creativity in the final third we might have the makings of something very good for the league. If you're playing 3 mids you've got to have a goal threat - Ozzy is hopefully that...

Re: Will we be dishing out a right Royal thrashing? Reading v BWFC 18/8/18 3pm

My expectation for this season was that we'd be okay away from home and struggle to find our rhythm at home. Along with that, I thought we'd take some time to find our feet.

We've started far better than I'd expected, but we now need to show we can win at home. Thrilling stuff, thus far.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread

Chris Martin is another where he was excellent a few years ago at this level, but crap recently. Maybe Parky's style would suit him better. We'll have to wait and see what goes on. I'd not object to Martin if he arrived.

Craig Noone looks like the player he was 4-5 years ago. Quick thinking, good feet and determined. Not seen him play like this in a long time. Hopefully it lasts.
