dual core is faster even if the number is a bit lower. If you are running Vista I'd definitely recommend 2048 RAM over 1gb/1024mb. the AMD processor isn't as fast as the Intel ones, however, for what you will use it for its unlikely you'll need anything too flash. We pay £55 a month for Sky+ all the channels and BB 16MB. Phone is separate at somewhere around £10 or whatever BT charge these days. DSB is right about the recording bit - very handy. I also find the BBC and C4 download wotsit very handy and can always hook the laptop up to the tv to watch in glor...
