Re: Plan B
Trotters already obvious lack of mobility is made even more apparent when playing on the left of that diamond. I guess Pratley might have been there ahead of him if fit. Hopefully we get a couple more wide players in before the transfer window closes. Anderson's son is saying on twitter that we'll ...

Re: Fleetwood Town (h) match thread 20/08/16
How many goals did Mark Davies bag last season? I'm not beating him with any stick. Simply saying that he has to offer more in an attacking sense. Ball for comparison has already bagged three this season. I don't think expecting more concrete end product from Davies is unreasonable. I'm sure Parky ...

Re: Fleetwood Town (h) match thread 20/08/16
Interesting in that Fleetwood's No.10 is David Ball, who's a six-foot striker. He might drop off to find space but he isn't a midfielder. He also scored 5 in 42 appearances last season, so maybe Mark Davies ain't so bad after all... :D Apparently he was played in a deeper role last season.... http:...

Re: Fleetwood Town (h) match thread 20/08/16
Second half we put balls over the top for Woolery and the simpler style got us back in. Credit to Vela. Brilliant finish and he was my man of the match out on the right hand side. Superb game from him.[/quote] Agree with most of that. We'd clearly set up to build slowly, hoping that spaces would bec...

Re: Plan B
The diamond 4-4-2 has worked well so far. And by "well" I mean "top of the league". But we will face many different challenges this season, and sparked by Andy's comment on the Fleetwood thread, I thought it might be worth a thread of its own. It might seem slightly odd to be discussing changes of ...

Re: Fleetwood Town (h) match thread 20/08/16
The game changed when Clough went off to be fair. Woolery offers much more at this level. I think Clough is a good player, just maybe better suited to a better quality of football. They looked scared of Woolery and a we seemed to make inroads further up the pitch because they were scared of him gett...

Re: Reasons To Be Cheerful (Tier 3)
Oh ok you're right. Managing in the champions league is not at a higher level than the championship. I must be really dumb to suggest otherwise. ffs. It depends how you got there though doesn't it? Like Insane says, they qualify virtually by default up there so the league is sewn up without any pro...

Re: Fleetwood Town (h) match thread 20/08/16
I work in Fleetwood and the yocals are really up for this one. They can't believe they're coming to a proper football stadium and see it as a sign of massive progress for them. Logic isn't a local strong point. They're also very nervous. I watched them a couple of times last season and their 2 cent...

Re: Bristol Rovers (a) match thread 17/08/16
Awful second half. Conor Wilkinson not even close to good enough. However, very good result. Solid. Will win more than we lose paying like that. Fleetwood hopefully 4 from 4. Decent turnout from BWFC about 1200 apparently According to Marc Iles Wilkinson had an impressive cameo. :| On his lapel wor...

Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru
None of this answers my question!! What's he good at? Why do Cardiff and Wigan and even allegedly Liverpool see? Why did Bobo want to adopt him? I need an education. Not a Dougie one though, because he didn't rate him either. On balance I'd keep him. Useful for the squad and can play RB where Buxto...

Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru
Seems like Wiggin are serious about Vela. I wonder if I'm. Missing something with him. Not the first higher level club to rate him so they must be seeing something I can't. Any of you footballers on here explain to a non footballer what it is? :conf: I'm not mad keen to get rid in case they're righ...

Re: Nice to be wombling again! - Wimbledon (A) 13/08/16
I actually think he's by a way the best passer we've got. It is just off the ball he can't react quickly enough. He's been useful when pressing high - caused a couple of goals pre-season and scored one Saturday. But by your theory (which might also be true) he might be best used deeper in a 4-2-3-1...

We'd have to have a midfielder who'd put his head down and bloody sprint into position too.

For the sado masochists among you... highlights. http://www.skysports.com/football/blackpool-vs-bolton/360010 Plus their 2nd shows why we need LB options. Moxey at fault for the first leaving the man coming in at the back all on his own. No way they should have been allowed to win the flick on for ...

We had a nice sensible one and won.
