Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign

Looks like Stevenage's Piergianni(?) will likely get a 3 match ban for a pretty shitty off the ball elbow into a P'boro players' face. Very typical of a Steve Evans player - Especially as they see that sort of 'physicality' as a leveller

Re: Ox on the box, c*cks on the blocks? Oxford (H) Tue 12 Mar, 8pm

Well that were lovely weren't it. That Collins goal was a real beauty. Wonderful, stylish football, movement, end product. The lot. Loved it. I was in awe of some of that football in the 2nd half. We hunted them and never let them have a sniff. Man of the Match: Probably Sheehan, but there were some...

Imagine if we switched shape and got beat. It would be cited as THE reason and the stick to beat him with, even though people are pandering for it

Re: Ox on the box, c*cks on the blocks? Oxford (H) Tue 12 Mar, 8pm

I do think Personnel is pointing at 4-3-3 but a lack of prep time will stop us doing it, presumably. Hypothetically, if we did, we'd have Thomason screening so the full backs can still offer that width, Sheehan probing and Maghoma the one highest up feeding the the wide men and/or the striker. It ac...

I can see a 0-0, repeat of the away game.
This is where I was heading, but I'm not sure I see a clean sheet.

Re: This Exe is on fire: Exeter (A) Sat 9 Mar, 3pm

^ I think this is incorrect - Nothing wrong with playing into Thomason. The issue was Thomason playing across the pressing defender. It should have gone back to Coleman to drop it behind the midfielders who jump after the first pass

They actually look a bit dejected, unmotivated and a bit feckin scared. And that's not becuase they're "soft" or have "weak mentality", it;s because they're feckin human beings who have put their bodies on the line allbastarding season and get us wankers as 'thanks'

Re: This Exe is on fire: Exeter (A) Sat 9 Mar, 3pm

But Evatts interview didn’t scream to me ‘we are confident and full of belief and it’s heads down to prove it’. Evatt could do his interview and scream ‘we are confident and full of belief and it’s heads down to prove it’ and our fans would pick that apart too. Full scale autopsy going on and that'...

I think, unless Jones is fatigued, he'll start. Not the time for experimenting and testing unknowns away from home. Better the devil you know this week I reckon

Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm

Hadn't clocked until now that our first goal game from Sheehan getting leathered and bouncing up, taking a quick few kick playing a quick pass through three of them. Thomo -> Collins -> Vic -> Goal. Lovely to see. Collins the only player in EFL to register 20 goals and 20 assists since the start of...

Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm

I'm not being negative.. Wigan were in front of us for 90 mins sitting in, not pressing, not expending energy. They were physically and mentally fresher in that second half than Barnsley were What I'm warning against is a new found belief that yesterday's last 30 mins is what we'll see every game we...

Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm

Without wanting to dampen anyone's spirits, or talk about why didn't we play like that against Wigan in the last 30.. Barnsley played with a ridiculous amount of energy in that first half. Chased everything, harried, pressured, tried to hit us, but ended up going the other way a bit (once again, we ...

Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm

loved that. We absolutely battered them. unlucky not to win it. Unlucky not have been playing against 9 men for most of the 2nd half. Unlucky not to have had the opportunity to miss 3 penalties I'm delighted for the players, but fvck me, they look disgruntled with the fans. Most heading down the tun...

Cambridge have just appointed Garry Monk (insert Abbey jokes here). That's a great appointment for them and they've got Barnsley (a) and Derby (h) in their run in.

Agree with the Sheehan/Bax/JDC shortlist personally (in that order). Thomo has been excellent but missed too many games by his own hand to get in there for me.
Yup

Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm

Genuine thanks DSB for putting the time into that post. The stats you very clearly laid out for us really outlines just how evenly matched the 2 teams are going into this game. A defeat would be gutting, obviously, but at the same time, away from home, it shouldn't be considered an Evatt Out moment ...
