Re: Eagles

He's definitely been our best attacking player this season.

Still is wildly inconsistent though.

And at times incredibly frustrating.

Re: The Tykes Thread

Talk of going unbeaten is pretty meaningless. Fair enough if we're fighting for survival in the Premier League and most teams get 0 points a week, but when we're aiming for 1.86 ppg (for 75 points and the playoffs), wins are pretty much all that count. If you don't win, that number goes up. If you ...

Re: The Tykes Thread

Think I said before I probably did overestimate the quality of our squad though I still think we are somewhat underperforming. why are we underperforming? (previously you said that is 100% down to the manager..) I think it was. As I said there is demonstrable improvement since the manager left, so ...

Re: The Tykes Thread

Aye I don't think Eagles is lazy. He is frustrating though. Makes things happen but in general too often his final ball, cross or shot is poor and a lot of the time he makes the wrong decision. Dougie needs to work on our delivery into the box because its wank. Especially from corners and free kicks...

Re: The Tykes Thread

Also do you think a 25% win percentage is adequate for a new manager when 75% if his matches have been home games? Its a slightly ludicrous stat to use after 4 games. If he maintains that across the season, then no. However had that shot hit the post and come back out and we'd have won 1-0 yesterda...

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager

There are a few rumours doing the rounds that Freedman was shocked with the attitudes of some of our players and the general feeling around the squad that they are "far too good" for this division. I wonder if by changing the team game to game, he's partly trying to drum into people that they should...

Re: The Tykes Thread

Yeah, but Freedman has a 25% win percentage and 3/4's of his matches have been home games, so for some reason that makes him ace Fecking hell he's had 4 games and not lost yet. All those threads laughing at deluded Newcastle, Sunderland and Liverpool fans.....get rid. We are a bigger embarrassment....

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager

I can't honestly put my finger on why that is. But i am increasingly coming round to the view that some are not half as good as we think. Crikey!!!. You've changed your tune, Old Son. We were winning it at a canter according to you before a ball had been kicked  Yeah I've said that, I honestly...

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager

Are we really saying that the players that we have aren't good enough? Really? I'd say that that's absolute shite. I was glad to see the back of Coyle for quite a few reasons, a main one being his backroom staff recruitment of inadequate mates policy. Another one being his abject stubbornness. But ...

Re: The Tykes Thread

I will say this again, Mark Davies will never ever ever make an attacking midfield player. How many shots did he have straight at the keeper yesterday? How many times did he take an extra touch rather than shooting or passing and the move broke down? He just doesn't work in the role behind the strik...

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager

Poor result. Give the bloke some time to work out what players will do the job he wants and then judge him. Coyle got the best part of 3 years, we should at least give this guy more than 5 minutes. Predictably poor result given the formation and tactics. Freedman may well turn out to be a great man...

Re: The Tykes Thread

Bottom line is that whoever we play up front in this system is seriously lacking in one or more departments based on the choices we currently have available. It's criminal that Coyle spent 7M on strikers as a premiership club who seemingly aren't good enough to start regularly even in the champions...

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager

From the armchair things seemed to have improved In what way? Coyle was criticised for continually changing the team, leaving out players like Petrov and Sordell and picking players out of position. Yesterday we had yet another midfield line-up, N'gog playing on the wing and no sign of Petrov or So...

Re: The Tykes Thread

ok - those who went... there are two quite different opinions by people who sound like they went and watched the game.. 1. we were dicked-on and rubbish and looked like a 1-man Eagles team 2. there are signs of organisation and cause for optimism I didn't go and only heard the radio - so i have no ...

Re: The Tykes Thread

Poor result. Kevin Davies scored, but was just doesn't offer enough movement. Isn't N'gog supposed to do that role? Not sure why the man who did score (and who isn't supposed to be any use anyway) consistently gets the flack. But for his goal we'd have lost. Mark Davies, and Chugy, and Eagles, all ...
