Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign

It’s not just about protecting him from injury it’s about the fact that there are certain games he plays and struggles in and that leaves the whole team struggling. We’ve seen it in the last few months . Stevenage won’t be like Oxford I shouldn’t have thought. From Sheehan? We see much less of it f...

^Agree with the analysis I think we are looking at 90-95 points range if we want top two. And it will be somewhere in there.

However, we can’t have been on 74 points after 38 last season surely?

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.

I haven't updated the top 6 v top 6 game in a few weeks but I suspect our draw at Barnsley keeps us second in that (albeit pending). Everyone feels that way. We’ve not won away at any of the top 8. We still have Derby, Stevenage and Posh to play away but one can summise that most teams that go up w...

This is our biggest game of the season.
Looking at the Derby website earlier and it’s pretty much a sell out.
We must not lose.
Succinct. But absolutely accurate.

Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign

Looks like Stevenage's Piergianni(?) will likely get a 3 match ban for a pretty shitty off the ball elbow into a P'boro players' face. Very typical of a Steve Evans player - Especially as they see that sort of 'physicality' as a leveller Their third game from now being us, so all good. Even if they...

Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign

Sheehan generally doesn't play for Wales though, right? A Cymru fan of my acquaintance recently described him as their reserve No.6. So he only has to travel to Cardiff and will very likely not play, so that’s ok. If they won on Thursday would the match on Tuesday also be in Wales? Yeah both in Car...

Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign

Jones has been called up by Australia for their two legs against Lebanon. I assume that puts Jones’ participation at Stevenage into serious doubt. The second leg is in Lebanon on Tuesday 26th with our Stevenage game on the Friday. Potentially Sheehan has a similar schedule too if Wales win the first...

Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign

All fair. Just noting that yon site’s probability calculations seem to have us only winning four plus change, which seems easier to outperform than I imagined. Same true for others, though. Win on Saturday and we’ve just got to keep our noses in front. Win Saturday and we will all be dancing with d...

Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign

^^Ignoring our game I have Derby down for 6 wins. Let’s take one off for usual ‘oddity’. That puts them on 90 points. Then obviously whatever they get from the game against us. If we win Saturday then I’m saying that we will need 5 more wins or 4 and some change, because I think Barnsley will be ar...

Re: Ox on the box, c*cks on the blocks? Oxford (H) Tue 12 Mar, 8pm

Santos looked exhausted. Hoping it was just that. I think he’s carrying something as he’s not really looked himself since coming back and whilst he was outstanding last night I still felt he was more tired than you’d normally expect. One to be slightly worried about is Bod who was complaining of som...

Re: Ox on the box, c*cks on the blocks? Oxford (H) Tue 12 Mar, 8pm

Bodvarrsson was absolutely outstanding tonight. Covered absolutely every blade. There is a myth that he’s not a grafter but that was exposed tonight. He and Collins look like they might be clicking. Midfield was rolls Royce like and the wingbacks had absolute worldies. Stretched them and got behind ...

Re: Ox on the box, c*cks on the blocks? Oxford (H) Tue 12 Mar, 8pm

I expect JDB will start, with Collins playing off him, and the shape will remain the same. I'd be half tempted to flood the midfield and have Morley in there with Paris as the furthest forward and Collins playing as a false 9. Apologies if I've got the vernacular wrong, and he'd really be a trequar...

Imagine if we switched shape and got beat. It would be cited as THE reason and the stick to beat him with, even though people are pandering for it If we tried to simplify our game and play more economically and lost I’d not criticise Evatt. At least we’d be trying to find a way to win the last 9. I...

Evatt on injuries
“It has to be the volume of games. Everyone wants cup runs but this fixture schedule – Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday – it has really taken its toll.
