Re: Watford Away 09/08/2014 - Match Thread

DOUGIE FREEDMAN: "We will be tactically set-up and organised to make sure Watford don't see a lot of the ball, whilst looking to spring a surprise going forward." I look forward to witnessing, at first hand, the fulfillment of Douglas's latest statement of intent. Should there not be a full stop af...

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread

Personally, I think he needs to give over moaning and concentrate on working with what he has. That's his job, he's the manager, the clue is in the title. If he can get the players available to him playing at something approaching their ability and potential, and we're still not capable of challengi...

Re: fight the flab

Five years ago, we bought a Wii Fit for the kids. When I weighed myself on it I was nearly 15 st (5' 11" tall) so I was overweight. I started using the Wii Fit every day and managed to get down to 12 st in around 4 months (and lost 4 inches off my waist). I found doing 30 - 40 minutes every day, bef...

for fans of tv show connections, Brother Muozone plays one of the detectives interviewing the main guys in True Detective. There are a couple of other actors from The Wire in True Detective Did anyone watch 'Boss' ? It was like The Wire crossed with The West Wing with added sex and swearing. Cancel...

Re: What are you playing tonight?

Just caught an Australian girl on Glasto by the name of Courtney Barnett. Never heard of her before but was quite impressed. First impressions are - catchy, intelligent and witty. Think I'll have a mooch around. Can heartily recommend, her Double EP from last year is excellent. I listened to (most)...

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread

The pronunciation would be "Loyd" as we all would know it. The actual name Lloyd comes from the area in the North-East of Wales, once a County, Clwyd and is a development from that. The river Clwydis the origin of that name. Those in South Wales say that almost as "Cloyd" whereas in the actual area ...

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread

Because Newcastle have lost five on the spin, several of their type are saying that they've had a shit season when in reality it hasn't been bad at all. It's more than five games: they've got 13 points from the 17 games after Boxing Day - almost half a season, and you wouldn't lay much on them impr...

When you're completely soulless about the game of football as BWFCI seems to me, to be, then football is just that. a business. It feck me off. Said it before. I am NOT a customer. I'm a fvckin' fan. I'm not really sure why you'd argue I'm soulless about the game? What does that actually mean? Are ...

I have a recollection that 1st and 2nd get prize money and everyone else gets nothing.

to me its not a business its entertainment. regardless of what the sport is a supporter is brand loyal Exactly, but that's fan/supporter thinking, and the market is created around that very fact. If nobody was going to turn up and watch your team, would there be any club directors driving Mercs and...

Re: The Politics Thread

I really don't get the 'Lefty Liberal BBC' tag. The only thing I have ever noticed the Beeb to be is painfully, painfully, obsessed with being, sounding and looking neutral. Even if that means having complete nutcases involved in debates in the interest of 'balance'. I guess you'll have some people...

Lot of people who clearly haven't been to the game commenting on here. Absolutely clueless. Was a fantastic game. Absolutely brilliant. Bolton deserved to win Al Habsi kept Wigan in it. Mcmannan absolutely ripped us to pieces when he came on as quality players tend to do. Baptiste came on because w...

Re: Abdoulaye's going t'Souk transfer thread

Peltier is awful. Leeds fans were booing him a while ago. You're right. He'll just be 4th or 5th choice like Danns..... Danns is 4th or 5th choice isn't he ? Spearing, Medo, Davies, Pratley (before he got injured), Trotter and CYL have all been picked in front of him in the past few weeks ? He's al...

There is a lot of hearsay and supposition in that! Just saying I think it warrants further investigation. It was wierder than a lot of hearsay if I recall. The state, didn't pursue the case, whilst publicly stating they thought they had enough to convict on...Which sorta left Allen being pronouced ...
