Re: The Rest of League One 23/24

Warm applause for Darren Clarke at Cheltenham. They looked a lost cause as early as August when us, and just about everyone else, whupped em at something to nil. They may still be in the bottom 4 but look a much tougher nut to crack now and must be treated cautiously and with respect.

Re: Tall dark strangers at the door. At home to Burton Albion New Years Day 3-0 clock

Only one thing mattered today and that was that we got three points and we did. Granted, we didn't help ourselves in and around the final third but there was only one team in it, and had a couple of delieveries in been a few inches closer it could've been very comfortable. Vic and Tomo the standout...

Re: The Rest of League One 23/24

Interesting that re the fitness. I always felt Warne would get Derby up and running and I'd not have been unhappy if they'd sacked him, when a lot of their fans were clamouring for it in September. A loss for them last night, might have slowed their momentum. Coming back from 2 down to win, well.......

Their 2nd goal was a belter even if I was a bit too panicky to fully appreciate it at the time.

Re: Murder on the Orient Express. Home to Leyton O, Sat 23rd Dec, 15:00

I have to say, when we're struggling to break teams down, I have never once thought "What we need here is a walking yellow card of a defensive midfielder who never scored more than three times in a season." I might think "What we need is an Ameobi" - someone who can win a game with individual skill...

Re: Murder on the Orient Express. Home to Leyton O, Sat 23rd Dec, 15:00

Interesting debate and lots to agree with but I found myself nodding along to this more than most. Our problem is that we are one dimensional and when it doesn’t work we are absolutely snookered. And we’ve seen countless significant examples of it. Barnsley semi final was the ‘wake up moment’. We ei...

Re: No Pirates up the Irwell. Home to Bristol Rovers, Sat 16th Dec, 3-0'clock

Very poor and very frustrating. Too many off their game at present. Possession based football is great when it comes off and can be a delightful spectacle (eg 4th goal v Exeter). When it's done badly, like today, side, side, back, side, side, back followed by panicked hoof into nowhere, it's enough ...

Re: Going for the full Nelson? Away to Portsmouth Mon, 11th Dec, 8-o'clock.

Disappointing and too many players off it today. Its been said before that we're flat track bully's who walk all over sides who let us play but often go hiding when faced wurh a physical press. As Santos struggled physically for once, it felt several of our lot went hiding too. And please, just once...

Got chatting to a few locals down here today. They weren't confident! Their win at Northampton, an outlier apparently, easily their best performance of the season. The 2 groups we spoke to would all take a point now if offered. TBH so would I!

A gig, some leftover annual leave and Sky mean I'm setting off for this tomorrow. I'm surprisingly confident. Certainly as said ^, there's nothing to fear. That 96/97 side got asked lots of difficult questions along the way and slapped them all back down. I'm not sure that this current team have the...

Bizarre that a linesman can't see a foul under his nose in the 1st half, which the ref blew for, but can spot irrelevant encroachment 40 yards away. I thought Jerome might take it since he drew the foul and still hasn't scored for us yet?

Enjoyed that. A little sloppy at times and we started the 2nd half slowly but never really any doubt that we'd win.

MotM - Josh Dacres Cogley. What a signing that lad has been.

Re: A whiff of Sulphur. Home to Harrogate Town, Sat Dec 2nd 3'O clock. F. A. Cup.

Back to the game yesterday, there was a moment in the 2nd half that suggested the relationship amongst the group is pretty tight. Young Ashworth, who looked lively when he came on, must have upset their winger Thompson, who clattered into the back of him. Remarkably he wasn't booked and then promptl...

Initial disappointment with the draw now over, its not too bad I reckon. No expectations, they could field a weakened side, good learning curve for the players against PL opposition. Bring it on!

Well that warmed the cockles on a freezing cold day at the 'bok. Some really neat passages of play, a hat trick and 2 more for Dan's tally. Check out his assist for JDBs 2nd. He muscled the full back off the ball, tore into the box and while lesser men would have shot, Dan rolled it beautifully into...

Agree on those sides. Wigan (& possibly Barnsley too) probably have too much to do but being the annoying gits they are, will be chucking spanners in a few works here and there.

Re: Whatever floats your boat.. V Oxford United, Tuesday 28th Nov.7-45.

I was reading some Oxford fans stuff the other day which said they struggled with an aggressive approach. If the opposition let them play they're more confident that they'll score goals from all around the pitch.

Okay, I give in.I don't get out much. What's a "terf" and a gammon ? TERF is an acronym I think TD but I'm unsure. It's a word that gets thrown at the likes of JK Rowling when people accuse her of being transphobic. Gammon is a term levelled at White, Middle aged males who get riled up about Brexit.
