Re: Carabao Cup First Round - Crewe away

Crewe away as a youth, chippy nr the ground, my first ever experience of being met with that look like id just shat on the counter upon ordering a Chip Muffin! a look i would later see again again in any chippy outside of BL8! BL9 too. It's pretty common in Bury from when I went college/worked ther...

Re: Contract expiry

Going back to that option/extension discussion, I think if it's appearance based, then it'll just be an automatic extension. I've never heard of an option (in football terms) being tied to any other criteria. The club usually just has the choice of whether or not to initiate the option. Though there...

Re: The athletics/running thread

I'm still trying to work my way up to the 5k mark... It's not being helped with the events that I've been going to / working at. Just spent about 8 days in the US for a gaming event. Lots of walking though! Squeezing in a couple of runs (today/tomorrow) before heading to Sheffield on Wednesday for a...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Burnden Paddock uses stuff that's been treated in a fluorocarbon moisture repellent in case there's a speck of rain. ;) Sheesh, I've just literally cut a hole into my armband so I can use the finger print scanner  Good job the S7 is water resistant ;) I think I've got it comfortable now anyway...

Re: The athletics/running thread

For those running with your phones, what do you guys typically use? I bought an armband and tried it earlier, but I'm not a huge fan. It either felt too tight or was slipping down the arm. I may just need to get used to how it feels on the arm. With it being an S7 Edge it's like wearing a tablet on ...

Re: Manchester Arena

Saw this just before I went to bed last night. Struggled to get off after that, thinking about all the poor kids caught up in that atrocity. I was at Victoria station just a few days before so it really hit home for me how close the attack really was. It was heartening though to see how many people ...

10/15 minute walk. You'll be knackered by the time you get there! :-)
Nah, that's the warm-up! :D

Re: The athletics/running thread

This the parkrun at Leverhulme yeah? And 400+ people, that's crazy! Definitely giving that a go once I get up to the 5k distances. Didn't even realize until a couple of weeks ago that the parkrun was there. I literally live 10-15 minutes walk away so pretty ideal for me haha. Good luck to those doin...

Re: The athletics/running thread

I'm currently giving the Couch to 5K thing a go. Starting week 5 tonight. Day 3 this week (20 minute run) is going to be an absolutely killer :D. So far I've just been doing it at home (on the spot on an exercise mat), going to get myself a better pair of trainers and migrate to the outdoors. Should...

Bradford and Bury?

Wankers
Actually Bradford gave us 8 points. Bury a begrudging 2 points.
Apparently by process of elimination, the two teams who didn't rate us were Gillingham :spank: and Coventry.

Re: What are you reading tonight?

I most recently finished The Sudden Appearance of Hope from Claire North. Pretty good story about a girl who everyone forgets. Interesting concept. Definitely a fan of the author. Right now I'm taking a brief break from fantasy/scifi and reading a non-fiction / self-help book with the name: (take a ...

Re: The Politics Thread

Not convinced about that, either. When you look at the majorities (in terms of seats) across GMCA, I'm not sure Osborne would have won against a relatively Labour unknown. GMCA being one of the few remaining places where I think your logic might be faulty... Anstee isn't a total unknown, he's counc...

Re: The Politics Thread

Announcing results of GM mayoral election now. Seems like Burnham has absolutely monstered it. More than double the votes of the Tory candidate in Bolton alone. Labour would be in so much better shape if led by Burnham. This has now been shown. Shame on those who supported Corbyn. Shame on them. Th...

Re: The Politics Thread

Had to laugh at this. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/world/donald-trump-reveals-eu-trade-deal-more-important-to-us-than-deal-with-britain-after-brexit-a3521051.html Apparently it was all "empty threats" from Obama. Now we're at the back of a queue for a deal with the USA. I mean it isn't rocket sci...

Re: The Politics Thread

Nothing there suggests she's a staunch supporter of the EU, just that it could be damaging to business to leave. Some people don't give a shit about what damage might be caused, they just want out. We don't really know where on the spectrum she is. Suggests she was fairly firmly in the remain camp....

Re: The Politics Thread

The poster was a deliberate outright lie. There isn't any question or debate to be had of that. Not just the entirely wrong number but the fact they knew it was never going to the NHS. Just like the point I was making about £4300 figure too. They knew they were taking out of their asses. Assuming t...

Re: The Politics Thread

The paper was available online outlining how they'd arrived at the figures. Where was the other side's justification or calculation? At all...where? Nice of them to not include that in the leaflets they spent £9m on sending out eh? The £350m calculation was pretty simple in comparison wasn't it? Th...

Re: The Politics Thread

They did do those things. But they didn't put a number out there without the assumptions and caveats being clear. It was a calculation of a potential scenario. It was the presentation of the facts in a certain light. Fact is right now, nobody knows for sure that number is wrong. Nobody actually kno...

Re: The Politics Thread

In short, a bare faced lie to appeal to thickos. Just like when the government used tax payers money to tell us that each household would be £4.3k worse off? Even though it was a complete fallacy? Both sides lied through to their teeth to appeal to those who were ignorant enough not to know better....
