Sacking Brown is starting to look like a more terrible move as each failed Prem manager is linked with the job. They fought hard to almost get a deserved point against Arsenal, only losing to a goalkeeping error in injury time, so the spirit was clearly still there. How a Dowie or a Megson can get t...

If he got the results there that he got here (survival, 13th, fecked off in enough time to bring in a talented young local hero), they'd all take it in a heartbeat. Even if it meant them losing 1,500 fans (or whatever it was Worthy worked out the other day on here). Yep, but here he had some world ...

Poor Hull fans, just to have your club associated with Megson is pretty obscene.

Football must surely be the only industry where people who have a very public job, with easily viewable results which show failure over a 14 year period, can be a favourite for a £1m per year job?

This seems terribly bad timing. It would be difficult for any manager to make a difference in 9 games, never mind an emergency appointment managing a squad that is inferior to most Prem teams, even when at its best, and one that is playing under relegation pressure. Personally I would have sacked Br...

The main difference between us and Pompey, is that our benefactor is more stable, and perhaps in it for slightly more heartfelt reasons. Gaydamak was very much their ED or maybe Abramovich, with lavish plans to upgrade the whole club, including facilities, until the credit crunch, or possibly his ov...

Interesting view from a Pompey fan commenting on this Guardian article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/david-conn-inside-sport-blog/2010/feb/03/portsmouth-mark-jacob-premier-league I disagree with the description of "haemorrhaging spending" that David Conn uses to describe the finances of Portsmout...

Are there any articles that articulate how Pompey got into this mess? As far as I can see from reading between many lines it is something like: 1.) Rich Russian oligarch (Gaydamak) buys Pompey from Mandaric and vows to pump in money, build new ground, new training facilities etc. 2.) All is going to...

Has he? Ask Sheffield Wednesday and Scunthorpe fans (his only two managerial positions) and see what they think! At least Megson had promoted a team to the premiership twice! Not that I'm saying Megson is better than Laws just that I think its hard to say Laws has a more distinguished pedigree so f...

Well Laws has been appointed now. And its not exactly pleased the Burnley bretheren. Shame. Its the "pragmatic" approach I suppose, someone with a bit of experience who builds relatively solid battling sides with one or two flair players in there. In some ways its a very similar appointment to ours...

I'm surprised at how bad Blackburn are doing. They have got good players - Robinson, Chimbonda, Samba, Nelsen, Dunn, Emerton, Diouf, McCarthy, Roberts. N'Zonzi looks a good young player in the DM role also. Maybe BSA has lost it, maybe the team in this league are better at dealing with his direct st...

Tell me about it boris, I once said that I'd never have adverts on this site, so I am well gutted. The cost of the site has come down recently, but it's just the constant amount I've had to pay over the years that's just got a bit silly now. It's £15 a month, so over a year that's £180. People in t...

Ok, here is a name I hadn't thought of before....... Gudni Bergsson. I would welcome his appointment if we are going down the younger manager route. He was always a very intelligent leader when he played, I feel he would make a great manager. He would be a huge gamble though, although instinctively ...

I don't get some of the media comments about this. Everyone is saying the "Irish were robbed of a place in the world cup". They weren't - they were robbed of staying level on aggregate with 15 minutes to go. Given France were pushing forward more at that time, it was 50-50 at best that they would ha...

Wind of Change

So last Monday, I had a true European experience. Sat in an apartment room in Rome, waiting for my other half to get herself ready to go out for a meal (i.e. plenty of time on my hands), watching a French news channel, in English, about the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall, and the co...

I thought his performance was poor - he quickly seemed to reach the boundaries of his intellect (or at least gave that impression) and was squirming uncomfortably for most of the show. Whether he will get the sympathy vote from some for being vilified by panelists and audience alike remains to be se...

Are the BNP really any worse than the current scumbags?! Yes. You only need to look at the history of fascist parties to realise that. Indeed, just look at the history of the BNP. I have a long held question over one aspect of the BNP's policy - namely the whites only membership policy. What consti...

Hull have agreed a fee with Newcastle for Beye - a good buy for them if they can pull if off - its highly doubtful if they can match his wages that he had at Newcastle and Villa are interested...
