This is not a blip under Evatt, we've been poor since Pompey away & Dion's shocking miss - btw Dion wasn't exactly scoring for fun in the 7 or 8 games prior to him being injured. I was made up when we 1st got Evatt, with the 'barrowcelona' stuff, fittest team in the league, heavy press, tiring teams...

Don't take this the wrong way Ian (sorry Dave) but I really don't care about your opinion, approval / welcome etc. The fact is I have only enjoyed a handful of games over the past 2 seasons under Evatt. most games send me to sleep, the football is turgid, boring, slow, predictable, robotic. With the...

Mar, decent post that. However, all the points you make IMO are down to the manager i.e. the not trying, galvanising the squad, motivation, apathy, half time team talk, effort levels, mustn't lose. These are all his players playing his system and his tactics. The job of manager isn't just signing pl...

Re: What's Ste Evan's Age? 61, I think. Stevenage away. 29/03/2024 - 3pm
Ian can answer questions at the end of the season if he fails in his objective to get promotion. It’s not good enough with this squad of players - why were the wingbacks not changed? Both were ineffective and he had options that he has signed on the bench. Kyle Dempsey? Aaron Morley? Pointless. Bet...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.
I saw no reason as to why we can't overturn a 4pt deficit on Derby to be honest. They'll drop more points than we will in the run-in. There. I said it I'm sorry but our current form is poor 4 wins out of the last 12, what makes people think that all of a sudden we will win 7 out of 7 or even 6 out ...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.
XG this & XG that....is this what football has become ! We've won 4 out of the last 12, that's the stat that I'm more concerned about. XG and possession hasn't helped us get the points we should have got since Xmas has it - what do points make ? How would you track how well we are doing? Feelings? ...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.
Winning 4 out of the last 12 is very short sighted, as is looking solely on the results. The performances have warranted more than we have got. Majority of the time we'd be seeing better results, the stats back that up aswell (those with a higher xG tend to score more than those that dont). I hones...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.
I've no doubt that we had more possession & a better XG than the opposition in all of the last 8 away games - however we have won
only 1.
Yes 1 win out of the last 8 away games - its ok though as we have process & performance.

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.
We're missing so many fixes that Evatt has put in place, CMG, Charles, Baxter, Johnston, N'lundulu, etc. that we've probably got the solution, it just isn't available. The tactics that we're playing now aren't dissimilar to the ones we were using with Baka and Bod up top where we seemed to score la...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.
Process & performance gets you nowhere if you don't get the points - more evidence of Evatt's robotic approach.
I assume everyone will be content with more seasons in League 1 as long as Evatt is happy with the process & performance, regardless of results ?

Re: This Exe is on fire: Exeter (A) Sat 9 Mar, 3pm
I'd say we're at the point wherw we need to find a way to win and stick with it. What gets me is we don't do the bollocks that Exeter did when they went 2-1 up. When they equalised a "stoppage" in play would've allowed us to regroup and maybe let Evatt have a word. Thing is we don't manage the game...

Re: This Exe is on fire: Exeter (A) Sat 9 Mar, 3pm
It's the inability to play for more than half a game for me, it happens almost every game - we just can't play for 90 mins. Current form is horrendous, and the same defensive mistakes happen game after game. I'd love to know what Evatt's half time team talks are like because in a lot of games we sta...

Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm
Surely the last 30 mins should be the blue print for the last 10 games - the attacking play, speed, tempo, intensity was excellent, the finishing needs to improve as we miss so many costly easy chances but when they play like that no one in the league would handle us, we ripped Barnsley to pieces, t...

Re: Pied and Prejudice, Wigan (A) 27/02/04.
I think the problem is the players were not empowered to think for themselves and abandon the system to change the game. I am sure Evatt was thinking get the ball in the box more - hence why Sheehan went off for Jerome. But there is a coaching failure that meant they weren’t comfortable doing that....

Re: Pied and Prejudice, Wigan (A) 27/02/04.
I don’t get the use of Jerome if you aren’t just going to wallop it into the box desperation style to be honest. Using him as a sub and not changing the style is on that list of things that baffle me about Bolton. But really disappointed in JDB - that suggests he didn’t look for the ball either - h...
