Some of the backups are on normal or even below average salaries, ie $15-30k. Been some chat about how when the team flies they all fly economy and Beckham flies first class - all the old players in the NASL flew economy whilst decent names in the MLS, eg Djorkaeff flew economy as well. This isn't supposed to be a dig at Okocha, but I suspect the money he would get in the US isn't enough for him. Djorkaeff was "only" on $150,000 a year over there: Beckham is certainly an exceptional case. Even Hull would be able to muster a few grand a week for him, I expect. I read somewhere they...
