Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread

I wager Eddie at least is breathing a tad easier of late. A transfer window is about to close and his wallet hasn't hemorrhaged any more of his pension. Spending millions of pounds on players that had showed some qualtiy, only to watch them lose condition and underperform must have weighed heavy on ...

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread

I was thinking something very similar.

Hope that doesn't cause you too much discomfort. :)

Re: Everton In The Cup

I imagine he might 'want to stay here' if we offered appreciably more than anyone else, as no doubt his agent would tell him it was in his best interests.

I think he can defend for toffee and with the right input will be a very good player for many years, health permitting. :)

Re: Everton In The Cup

Short of stumping up wages that are beyond the budget, I fear it's out of our hands. :(

And yes, I do have a view on what may have brought about the turnaround. :)

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread

Always a story to be told for sure, I'm just pleased he's not signing for us.

Can't see him as the future.

Re: Worthy's better class of transfer thread

£20,000 per week for someone that couldn't get a game in the Premier League's worst defence!

Or even a bit lost in translation. :)

Press conferences are certainly not his strongest suit.

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager

I accept that they all have a level of competence, however, I doubt there is a player born that doesn't benefit from coaching.

Do Freedman and his team have the eye for who needs what? I'm impressed with what I've seen them achieve and remain optimistic for the future.

Re: What to expect from Dougie ...

Clough, an inspired man that made many inspired deals in the transfer market.

The man that I believe made all his best teams great and who never gets a mention, John McGovern.

We don't have a McGovern yet, but I fancy there's one on the way.

Fingers crossed.

Re: Dougie Freedman - New Manager

I don't see that a person with a high level of football skill, would necessarily have any idea how to harness those skills and perform well in a team sport. I would think the two things are unrelated.

If that wasn't the case, surely we on here would all be very talented footballers. :)

Re: REAM...............? Why?

Maybe I'm just seeing what I want to see, but in the time I've been registered here it seems a few players, Alonso, Sordell, maybe Pratley and now Ream have moved from the 'he's a basket case tray, to the 'hang on, this fella can play a bit' tray.

I wonder what could be behind this change!

Forecast looks ok, soon as it stops snowing the lads will have it clear. Will come down to the busybodies worried about our safety, in case we fall over in the snow. :(
