Re: England, England, Ra-Ra-Ra...
I definitely think he's been told he has to fill a big club quota. Regardless of ability, they're picked based on club. As the starting 11 came from 9 different clubs - just which of the big clubs were getting special preference? It was a friendly though so I don't think they're that bothered. As m...

Used to go on the 2nd floor, where the tables were, but never the club on the 1st floor. Jesus, it looked rough in there.Annoyed Grunt wrote:That's the one.Andy Waller wrote:The Crown and Flick-knife?Annoyed Grunt wrote:It was all about The Crown & Cushion back in my day.
Cheap beer, cheap pool/snooker, what more could you want?

I'd take the longer walk. I parked near the ground last year and it took forever to get out.

Re: Bolton v Baggies - Match thread
I'm having a huge fry up, a few drinks on the train, watching the Superwhites win 7-0, a few more drinks on the train home, out for a curry, slip the missus a crippler and then pass out. I'm not entertaining any other outcome than that. I went there after the last match at Burnden, got arseholed, c...

Re: Bolton v Baggies - Match thread
This happens to be my first visit to The Hawthorns despite how many times weve played there. Anywhere nearby considered an away friendly pub? On another note, I wish Hawthorns was still open I went there after the last match at Burnden, got arseholed, copped off with a reasonably good looking femal...

Re: Ambitious Blackburn
Said on the wireless this morning that they're going to hold a week of mourning for their club. They're just becoming tiresome now and all look a bit silly. Well, sillier than normal. I thought they said "they're having a wee this morning in the pub". Thank's for clearing that up. The statement, no...

I definitely think he's been told he has to fill a big club quota. Regardless of ability, they're picked based on club. Do you think they're leant on by sponsors? Eg Adidas? I couldn't understand why Beckham was there at the world cup, apart from having to have his face on telly. Lampard and Gerrar...

Re: England, England, Ra-Ra-Ra...
Not sure. Possibly. Spain can't play at 100% every game, as they probably showed on Saturday. But I think we've shown in this friendly that if we pick the right tactics and personnel, we could beat them. Conversely, they could hit the inside of the post anmd see the ball bounce in rather than out. ...

Is it clear or obvious? You don't need two adjectives there.
It won't do to be honest, are you seriously saying that, in a competitive match, you'd fancy England over Spain?

Re: England, England, Ra-Ra-Ra...
So when we played Spain, did we not 'compete'? regardless of it being a friendly or not? It's pretty obvious what the gameplan was. That was to defend in numbers, try to stop them getting in behind us and making the most of any chances we can get. Stop the supply to Villa and get tight on Xavi and ...

Re: England, England, Ra-Ra-Ra...
Knew I'd be eating my words. The team that can really say it's beaten Spain though has to know how to get the ball off them. (And er, the team that beats them 1-0 as well obviously.) It's the only way any team in the world can compete with Spain.. We did it and we won. Other than the Fabregas chanc...

[quote="Andy Waller] Sorry, I'm just not getting your point? To win anything you can't just have one decent result. Spain have proved that they're far better than England "on the day". Hence the World/European Cups! My point is... England beat Spain.. England deserved to beat Spain.. What other poi...
