Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....

So is the consensus that our summer transfer budget (fees) was only around £800k ? If so I have to ask again (apologies for doing so) what on earth is the £4.5M fans bond money being spent on, they didn't even use it to replace the pitch. Again I appreciate that it was said that the money was not ju...

Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....

I haven't got access to view this BN article, is it true that Evatt gave the players 5 days off before the Reading game ? if so no wonder they tired in the last 20 mins or so. Also from what I can gather from bits & pieces elsewhere did he also say we didn't have the funds for anymore signing ?

Re: Burn after Reading. Reading (A) League 1. Saturday 16th September 2023. 3pm KO

I appreciate that Ipswich had a higher budget than us, but I thought that last season they recruited several 'proven' experienced championship players - although I could be wrong as I often am. This could be why they are doing well this season ? Interesting theory, BW. Last summer they signed a fai...

Re: Burn after Reading. Reading (A) League 1. Saturday 16th September 2023. 3pm KO

Yeah, this fixation on JCH is daft. He doesn’t really fit our style , would likely demand sky high wages on top of a big transfer fee, and potentially has a questionable attitude. It’s easy for fans to massively oversimplify things, but the realities of constructing a football team are presumably n...

Re: Burn after Reading. Reading (A) League 1. Saturday 16th September 2023. 3pm KO

It's only my personal view but I don't think that many of our current squad of players are good enough to play regularly in the championship and that's the issue with the club's poor recruitment to date, as we would almost need a complete new team just to stay up should we ever get promoted from Le...

Re: Posh do or dogs dinner? Bolton v Peterborough Sat 23rd Sept - 3pm

TD we are all different & we all have very differing opinions - however I don't mind admitting that I'm more impatient than most, I'm not at all saying that Evatt should go but I honestly wouldn't lose any sleep if he went tomorrow. Apart from playing a 'better on the eye' possession based game than...

Re: Posh do or dogs dinner? Bolton v Peterborough Sat 23rd Sept - 3pm

I really do hope that we win this because if we lose I have a feeling that quite a few fans may verbally turn on Evatt both in the stadium and on social media & I can't really blame them. Almost every fan that you speak to is annoyed with the poor summer transfer business, the lack of quality additi...

Re: Burn after Reading. Reading (A) League 1. Saturday 16th September 2023. 3pm KO

Our recruitment starting to look lazy to me. Did Markham get August off?signed Nlundulu on the back of him being here for 6 months, and Bodvarson presumably because we thought we could the player from 18 months ago back. Did we not look for alternatives? Maghoma was at Mk last season and we obvious...

Re: Burn after Reading. Reading (A) League 1. Saturday 16th September 2023. 3pm KO

It's not as though he can hide behind the whole improving our players for saleable assets either because we're playing Cameron Jerome. Sure Jerome might have his uses but to have him as first choice off the bench is a bit ludicrous, especially when he was seemingly coming here as cover for JDB. May...

Re: Burn after Reading. Reading (A) League 1. Saturday 16th September 2023. 3pm KO

Quote from Evatt post match "Some of the players looked drained & fatigued" said Evatt when asked about the substitutions "we needed some energy to see the game out". Victor looked really tired, Randell looked physically tired and bringing on two players of that experience should be enough to see us...

Re: Burn after Reading. Reading (A) League 1. Saturday 16th September 2023. 3pm KO

Oh and just to top today off Charles has suspect ligament damage in his shoulder. Having also suffered that I doubt we are seeing him for at least a month and would not be surprised if it takes 2-3 months in reality. I could barely move it for 4 weeks. It's ok we have Ivan Toney due back soon don't...

Re: Burn after Reading. Reading (A) League 1. Saturday 16th September 2023. 3pm KO

Two defeats to two teams with points deductions and wholesale summer changes early in the season is piss poor for this squad as well - which is 100% the manager. These are the sides we should be fitter and better then by virtue of having a settled squad with a full pre season. All on Evatt that one...

Re: Burn after Reading. Reading (A) League 1. Saturday 16th September 2023. 3pm KO

Is it actually confirmed it’s the fans bond money? I think that’s a sticky situation they have created there regardless mind. Dibs, if its not I'd be seriously asking what the club are planning to do with the £4.5M fans bond money. It's nice having great corporate suites, better training pitches an...

Re: Burn after Reading. Reading (A) League 1. Saturday 16th September 2023. 3pm KO

300k on Nlundulu 500k on Vic 300K on CMG 200K on Forrester That’s getting on for £1.5M quid. You can criticise a lot of things but that’s a fortune by league one standards. No lack of ambition from the owners . At all. Lack of judgement from the football staff though. This is the fans bond money no...

Re: Burn after Reading. Reading (A) League 1. Saturday 16th September 2023. 3pm KO

There’s 20 stone blokes in the stands who would offer more off the bench than Jerome and nlundulu! 3 year fecking deal! It isn’t the players faults. They aren’t responsible for using our precious resources. Agreed. Nlundulu is fast moving into my worst ever signings list…we effectively had a 6 mont...

Re: When is a Derby not a Derby? Home v The Rams Sept 2nd, 3-o'clock.

Not overly fussed we didn’t go on to get more - that’s pretty much football - unless you are a man city or whatever you don’t just blast teams away by four or five every week. We got our noses in front and couldn’t manage another goal. Some interesting subs but that’s the squad we have now so he ha...

Re: When is a Derby not a Derby? Home v The Rams Sept 2nd, 3-o'clock.

Lovely 3 points but the same concerns for me. A really good side would have scored 3 or 4 today and made for a far more chilled 8 minutes of injury time. Evatt's substitutions baffled me again today, decent performance and we were the better team (with a friendly ref for once !), his substitutions ...

Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window

I can only think that they are saving the funds until January, either that or the new perimeter LED screens, the new scoreboard and spruced up hospitality suites are costing more than anticipated OR we are skint and that's the reason the club were desperate to shift Sadlier & John - to reduce the wa...

Re: Snog, Marry, Avoid: Summer 2023 Transfer Window

Quick question, has anyone got any approx idea what the 4 sided LED advertising screens to be sited in between the stands is costing ? None here. (But equally unsure how knowing it would be helpful.) If we straw man a figure, for arguments sake, £400k, at what point will it become a positive invest...
