Re: £1.10 - ticket in 1975!

IIRC when we had high inflation in the 70's and 80's, wouldn't prices have gone up mid-season? If so, season ticket holders were on a winner!

Re: £1.10 - ticket in 1975!

It's equivalent to about a tenner. Ta. That makes today's prices roughly 2.5 times the equivalent. Hmmm. For some matches, yes. Though you can get tickets for this weekend's match for 1.5 times that which, given that third-tier football nowadays is of a higher quality, is probably about right I'd s...

Forgot my password, so was sent a new one via email (thank you) but can't find any way to reset it to one I can remember.

£1.10 - ticket in 1975!

Help! Just dug up a ticket out of the old man's drawer from the Bolton 2, Sunderland 1 Dec 27th game of 1975. That was the ticket price for the Burnden Stand, but there's no indication of whether it's adult or concessionary. Reckon if it was in dad's drawer it was his (adult). So can anyone clever w...

Two coppers in the swan now. Talking to the landlord about shutting the place up. End of the world If people are behaving themselves...then why? If it's full then stop folks getting in - but shutting? And at 5.30pm where the furk do they expect the fans to go? If anything's kicking off then fairynu...

Re: planning ahead...

Not sure what we expect from a team just outside Manchester who have been in the bottom couple of divisions for all but about 4 years in the last 50. The people of Bury, don't support Bury. Not the fault of their actual fans. More likely to see a Barcelona shirt outside Gigg Lane most days than a B...

Re: Brexit or Britin

Just grabbed a few days holiday and nearly fainted when seeing the exchange rates. I know there's stuff about needing tourist visas etc in future - possibly, of course - which is added expense (and bother) to the EU but didn't expect the UK to have a Stirling Curtain put around us keeping us in...b...

http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab115/garyparkinson1974/7071_zps8ejfch6c.png Here’s the original TV gantry – which had existed since at least 1958, from the pics I can find – and clock behind the squad line-up for the 1970/71 season. It turned out to be a tumultuous one. Since a 30-year top-flig...

Re: Allardyces dream job...

Bottom line, it just shows how the once noble sport of football has become a snake pit of financial corruption ruled by greed and personal gain. Foreign investment, dodgy agents, investors prepared to buy football clubs to keep their personal fortunes away from the tax man..etc, etc. Sam has not be...

My first live match was around that time - Eddie Hopkinson's testimonial @ Burnden. Embarrassed my dad when I first saw the pitch "Wow, dad, it's in colour!!"

Those of you of a certain age will understand.

Want some totally useless information that could lose you a girlfriend? Thought so. Walsall, according the the Ordnance Survey, is the third furthest ground in England from the sea. No, a brand new girlfriend* to anyone who can suggest 1 and 2 correctly. (*Which is a lie on the scale of £350m/week t...
