Re: Deal or no deal? - Summer 2022 Transfer gossip!

Aimson and Sadlier are two who I could see asking for a move elsewhere.

Re: Heroes and Villans: Aston Villa (H, Lge Cup 2) Tue 23 Aug @7.45pm

On the face of it, Sadlier seems a strange signing. He arrived citing a dissatisfaction over a lack of playing opportunities and a frustration at being asked to play at wing-back at his previous club. But his signing came after our change in formation (and corresponding change in fortunes) and with ...

Re: Heroes and Villans: Aston Villa (H, Lge Cup 2) Tue 23 Aug @7.45pm

It is what it is. We were competitive in the first half and then in the second the gulf in ability between the two clubs really began to take hold; the speed of thought and the movement was more than we could cope with. We might possibly have avoided such a lop-sided scoreline had we not played wit...

Re: Heroes and Villans: Aston Villa (H, Lge Cup 2) Tue 23 Aug @7.45pm

Santos was on his heels for that Ings shot on the post. Divisional difference in speed of thought becoming more obvious now. It's striking, isn't it? I was about to post that Evatt should try and make his substitutions early to try and compensate for any mental, if not necessarily physical, fatigue...

Re: Heroes and Villans: Aston Villa (H, Lge Cup 2) Tue 23 Aug @7.45pm

I thought the Dixon selection was a mistake before kick off and so it's proved. The equaliser hasn't just restored parity but shifted the momentum in their favour, which I suppose is to be expected. It's been a very creditable performance thus far, though, and a better one than I anticipated when th...

Re: Time to Steel 3 points but it won't be on a Weds - Sheff Weds (H) Sat 20th Aug @3.00pm

My beef with Santos yesterday was the reaction. Like you say Mar, dealing with adversity. His body language afterwards was awful. I think the role of captain is overstated but if the lads were looking to him.for inspiration yesterday they would have found the opposite. Not that the rest of them are...

Well, I thought it was another reminder that we have yet to reach the standard of the very best. Their pressure neutralised our style of play very effectively and we had nothing to counter it.

I still think we need an injection of pace. We have no one who is especially quick.

I think Bazball might actually just have been EarlyDukesCalamityball.

And what business Zak Crawley has in an England Test squad, I don't know.

Right, but that's a separate argument. I was just disagreeing with the people claiming it was clearly a goal.

Nothing more, nothing less.

For what it's worth, I was disputing the claim, made by many, that it was two feet over. If it was, the linesman would surely be capable of making a judgement.

This might prove controversial but, having watched it again, I don't think the goal that never was was clearly over the line. It goes behind their goalkeeper's back rather than being just out of his reach as the frozen image makes it appear.

I can't ever seem to post links to Twitter on here, but there's a Tweet on there with a slow-motion replay of Trafford's late save.

The angle is from behind the goal and it really does highlight just how magnificent it was.

A point more than I thought we'd end up with at half-time and a good result in the circumstances.

I'd have thought these might be good circumstances in which to bring Lee on.
