The Sh!te Steves. Fulton and McAnespie. Particularly as a reasonable amount of notes changed hands for them, I think.

[quote="Harry Genshaw In your honour I spent an hour and a half over Winter Hill this evening with head torch in some very deep snow. Bit cooler than Mumbai :D[/quote] You're making me wistful for Blighty, HG. The Lancashire countryside is definitely what I miss most about home. Talking of head torc...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Yes - amazed how much more painful going downstairs is than going up!! Living on the fourth floor, the New Year Resolution not to use the lift has gone out of the window! Will probably aim to do a half marathon when I'm back in the UK for a couple of weeks in the summer (I did the Torbay Half Marath...

Re: Today I'm angry about.....

Ah, fair do's. I've never known how come pheasants have absolutely zero road sense, yet those wily old crows at the side of the motorway never ever get run over. I'm sure I read somewhere that pheasants need grit to help them digest, so they spend a long time on roads where they can get said grit. ...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Running my first marathon in about ten days time on Sunday 20th January. I've been reasonably good at keeping to my training schedule. Starting to get a bit trepidatious now, though. Any tips from those who have done one? Are you going for a time or just to finish? Just to finish really. Although I...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

Been in Nagpur for the last three days of this. Fairly turgid and attritional stuff to watch at times, but a series win is a series win. India just didn't look interested for most of the game, and Dhoni's captaincy was woefully unimaginative; the India press have been out to get him for a while now ...

Re: Trivia Question

Tony Parkes at Blackburn seemed to be a permanent caretaker manager.

Didn't Graham Taylor have second spells at both Villa and Watford? Although he probably wasn't sacked by either of them first time round.

Re: What started it all?

Went out with a girl who was into the Pixies; never heard them before that. Was blown away by them at the time, and can still listen to some of their songs over and over. A colleague of mine at the time absolutely implored me to go and watch The Pixies with him at Liverpool Royal Court. They were a...

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?

Warren Joyce! ^this. Having said that, he would probably be expensive - I imagine the Urinals Reserves boss's pay packet is well above plenty of Championship First Team managers. Also, I am not sure if the cosy pampered world of Stretford is a good testing ground for the rufty-tufty / roughty-tough...

I was talking to a chap from Switzerland the other day. I asked him what the advantages of living there were. He said "Well, there's the flag - that's a big plus."
