Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017

I think the difference is who is around him and us having proper movement as opposed to watching the ball sail over heads. The same for this Armstrong. If they (Alf/Armstrong) are in a team that plays to their strengths they're more likely to do well. Armstrong is aiming for 10 goals before January...

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )

So did Dean Holdsworth actually put any money in the kitty or just take out the Blu Marble loan to cover his share of the £7.5million? And therein lies the crux of the matter. The loan was to Deano's company Sports Shield BWFC, but underwritten in some form by BWFC assets. Out of the £5m "borrowed"...

Re: Carabao Cup First Round - Crewe away

Carabao is a Thai energy drink apparently... ...who already sponsor Chelsea. It rhymes with cow, not snow. Or as one PR wonk wrote: "It rhymes with 'take a bow'," presumably not realising that bow is a heteronym which can be pronounced to rhyme with now or know. It IS a cow!! http://newsinfo.inquir...

Re: The Politics Thread

Corbyn... all he has to do is get the big-hitters back in the shadow cabinet, imho. They'll be all over him now. Crawling over eachother to pat him on the back so they don't look like utter wankers to this new movement of young voters Miliband and Corbyn are/were a backlash after Blair/Brown. Like ...

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017

Morais after 2 years, we've said 1 year take it or leave it. Quite right too. Deserves a chance after his brilliant spell but nothing in his prior record suggests he will do it in the Championship. Hope he signs and we get to find out though. Right, for one year with an option, please. If he wants ...

Re: Retained list

Looking at PP's wiki it doesn't seem like he's had the best of times in the Championship, but always seems to do well in League 1. A bit like Madine. Could be a turning point! :conf:

Any news on the embargo?

Re: Contract expiry

Converting loan players into decent permanent signings doesn't seem to be our forte. Although the lack of memory is starting to kick in as soon as I say that. Am I wrong? I can't think of anyone who has signed after a loan that has gone on to be really good. IMG_6394.JPG Aha, I was close with McGin...

Re: Contract expiry

Hmmm. I definitely got the feeling after the loan that people generally wanted to sign him up. Could be that BWFC is his golden goose and he's thinking about opening a pub somewhere... or getting into property development, whatever they do these days. I raised an eyebrow at the 2-year deal for A Tay...

Re: Contract expiry

As a no-knowt with a bad memory... what's the feeling on Amos? How does he compare to the other two goalkeepers? Is the problem the wages? Thanks.

Re: Retained list

I'd rather not be paying loan fees and wages, I'd much prefer that money is invested in our own players. In an ideal world, yes. But we're not in one. We won't have the money to buy in the required quality. See what Huddersfield have done this season with a number of premiership loan players. Remar...

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017

Parky said when Clough left he signed at Forest for 'life changing wages'. He's not coming back here. My personal opinion is that his dip in form at the end was because he was aware of a possible move. For him to go backwards probably wouldn't bring the best out of him. Pretty much agree with what ...

Re: What will we need if we're in the Championship next season?

Maybe it's like a Tom and Jerry cartoon, every time I looked away they were a back 3/5, then I turn back and.. oh, it's 4!

If having a back four that everyone calls a back three means that 2 strikers can play at the same time it's a good thing. Versatile players, good coaching too probably.

Re: What will we need if we're in the Championship next season?

I think there are big question marks over what we do up front next year. Firstly depends on the system. If we play one up front then don't bother signing ALF for example. But to play 2 up mainly, probably relies on keeping a back 3. At the risk of flogging a dead horse... Which back 3? Oh  Th...

Re: "It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves" Bolton vs Posh 30th April

That was one of the better games I've ever been to. Really good day, great atmosphere around the stadium today. Anyone know the formation that was? If anyone thinks that was 3-at-the-back I'll strongly disagree. They even did a warm-up thing with the FOUR defenders before the match :P Fantastic! It...

Re: "It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves" Bolton vs Posh 30th April

Can't say I had a huge amount of sleep, but probably for different reasons (non-exciting). Last game of the season, I've been to a few and they always seem to be draws. Does this game have a monetary value? I'm sure they'll say what it is if there is one on Sky. Side note, why have the Manchester de...
