If we are to develop players, as you are correctly advocating, a number of fans are going to have to be more patient with players as we go through that process. But regardless I think there will be plenty of patience. But if the game is signing players not quite ready but to develop then Evatt need...

North East clubs may be passionate, but they're also impatient and unrealistic. If their team loses it's "Off with his head" for somebody or other (usually the manager). They never give credit to the opposition being the better team on the day (Saturday a classic example)..No new thing. I think the...

Perfect choice for Sunderland would be Leam Richardson. Oh how we’d laugh.

Would be interesting if they offered the job to Evatt. He would be mad to take it Biggest poison chalice in football Apart from Everton Not saying he'd go, but he would absolutely believe he'd take them up this season. With their squad and league position, plus Evatt's ego, he'd believe he could wi...

Not sure where the goals are coming from, but I'll be happy to be surprised :)
Not sure if that's a joke or not.

Just in case - Charles, Lee and Dapo have all shown they are goal threats recently.
How perceptive

Re: Looking for traction to avoid the blues - Ipswich (H), 3pm Sat 15th Jan

4 new players available.
Who have never played together.
It’s asking a lot for them to gel on day 1

I don’t expect much from January

It’s the 8 league games in February that will determine our season. Most of them against bottom half teams.

I would settle for a point today

Hindsight is 20/20 and whatnot, but we should really have seen this coming.
Before the Sheff Wed match I was convinced that we would be getting a 4-0 drubbing

I was almost relieved when we only lost 1-0

Re: CLUB BUSINESS/SUNDRIES ETC.

Being old fashioned in my accountancy, I tend to see some of these Intangible assets as being a way of making a Balance Sheet look solvent when there are not enough tangible assets. I'm guessing, but some of the Intellectual property might lie in the rights to the name Bolton Wanderers, and to be ab...

Sam Allardyce is the best English-born manager since Brian Clough - discuss His innovations and achievements when he was with us were exceptional, but he had an image problem which he was never going to overcome. He deserved the chance to manage on a bigger stage. Newcastle should have been that pla...

Sorry lads, I looked. They're all going terribly for us, no need for any of you to look. Full-times: Cheltenham 0-2 Barrow Port Vale 2-1 Newport Salford 0-0 Colchester Crawley 1-1 Walsall The two teams above us who played lost; the two nearest teams below us who played only drew. Carlisle still pla...

The following Saturday it's Morecambe v Cheltenham, Salford v Exeter and of course Forest Green v Bolton Don't confuse me anymore than I am. :-) OK, then I shan't tell you that the following weekend is Easter, which includes Cheltenham-Tranmere and Cambridge-Morecambe on Good Friday plus Tranmere-C...

Re: Ask not for whom the bell tolls.....Port Vale A. Sat 13-03-21. 1500h.

Morecambe's defeat means, as things stand tonight, we're deservedly in the play-off places. No club below us can knock us out of them by wining their matches in hand alone. It hampers our ambition to reach the automatic promotion places, but still, I think it's something worth noting. I think if Ca...

I only saw Nat Lofthouse play at the end of his career (Babysitting Franny Lee). So for over 30 years Peter Thompson was my greatest Wanderers hero. Full Stop Bar None. It was a Thing of Beauty to see him mesmerise full-backs before delivering the perfect crosses. Eventually we had 3 players who cou...

Re: We are (hopefully) staying up: the opposition

It seems to me that we have 3 key games - Burton Barnsley and Birmingham.
If we win all 3 - we will be certain to stay up.
We would have 48 points and they would all have one game less to catch us.
