Re: Laughing gas or tear gas? Bristol Rovers (A), Tue 22 Oct 2019 7.45pm

What a wonderful away performance! As I was entering the ground Matthews was making an excellent save, and there was a calamitous mix up where their striker had been gifted the ball and just had to get it over Matthews and in to the net to score. Luckily he just about cleared the bar. After that we...

If this is the way we set up regularly, then Verlinden and Politic could be great impact subs to give us another element or panic tired opposition. Nice place to be in after all this time.

Simply brilliant. Still say our crossing is ineffective but, as has been said, we mixed it up tonight, which was key.

Re: It's Rochdale....again. Rochdale (H) 19th October 2019 15:00

Quick fixes are what got us into this mess. Wrong players brought in with an unsustainable wage structure in the hope they'll have a quick impact and turn fortunes around. Does Hill have the right long-term plan? Who knows, but it's gonna take more than two months to find out. I disagree. What got ...

In short: We're Not Famous Any More This is something our fans have needed to get their heads around for at least 10 years now. It's been two months since Hill was appointed. Even in the modern game, considering where we are coming from, to lose patience already is crazy. I personally won't be judg...

Re: Keith Hill's School For Gifted Youngsters

Regardless as to his "It's aimed at everybody" assertion, I find it impossible to read “Don’t fear change, don’t fear challenge, don’t go and hide in an office somewhere – get out on the training pitch, do your job, be a coach.” without thinking that that's aimed at one person and one person alone....

Keith Hill's School For Gifted Youngsters

Latest from the BEN suggests there could be big changes afoot at the Academy - with some noses being put out of joint in the process. https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/17959013.bolton-boss-keith-hill-voices-concern-resistance-change/ “What worries me is that people are opposing necessary changes...

How do you get one? Do you have to buy the blank shirt and then iron on a BWFC badge?

Re: I wish I'd never left Bolton...v Blackpool H. 8-0 clock 7-10-19.

Yeah Murphy not being fully match sharp doesn't help. But the crosses were generally poor or they simply didn't take the chance to get the ball into the box. Yeah, it's fecking ridiculous that we don't have a Gary Lineker to attack those shit balls into the box too. Ridiculous! Not being critical o...

I'm personally very very pleased with how we are playing and actually looking forward to watching a Bolton match again win lose or draw. You're right Tango, we should be very pleased. Talking about where we need to improve is all part of being an armchair manager though!

Re: I wish I'd never left Bolton...v Blackpool H. 8-0 clock 7-10-19.

Bristol is right I think. When you're playing one up front, and your wide men are wingers looking for crosses rather than inside forwards looking to support that lone man, you need one or two central midfielders who can bomb it in to provide another body to latch on to crosses. Nolan is the classic ...

Re: I wish I'd never left Bolton...v Blackpool H. 8-0 clock 7-10-19.

I said a while back that we need a playmaker and I still stand by that. Maybe we could put Politic in that role, not sure. But we need someone to create a few more chances, someone who can open doors. Other than that, I thought it was a solid performance. Still can't expect too much from such a ran...

Re: The Dorothy Com Trophy, Rochdale away. Ist Oct. 7-45.. Tues

Yes sorry I agree. What I mean by not finishing attacks with goals is - we're not even getting to the shot. We seem to be great at passing it neatly around the box or bursting into crossing positions only for it to come to fizzle out before the killer ball. So yes, it isn't necessarily the strike th...

Re: The Dorothy Com Trophy, Rochdale away. Ist Oct. 7-45.. Tues

We lose 5-3. Absolutely all over em and we lose. Playing well and losing. Not really a good sign. Should really say drawing. It’s missing goals that is all. Performance is ok. Not say we were all over them. But final ball is not very good. And we are playing sans striker. We were all over them firs...

Sooner we're out of this joke competition the better. It's another night of getting fitness levels up and playing together so some positive news. Now onto that first win in 6 days time 100% agree with this sentiment. As for the performance itself. Plenty of nice build up without being able to find ...

Re: No Jackett Required - Portsmouth (A), 3:00pm, 28 September

I think when we get a recognised striker up front, that's when we can slash the odds of a win. And, based on displays so far, I reckon we could quite easily put a string of them together. Until then, I think every match is going to be a close run thing.
