Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
Some folk seem to be conflating wage bill with quality without adding Coyle, Freedman and Lennon to the equation. Paying Amos 16k a week didn't make him better than Johnny Goalkeeper earning 4k a week at Football United in L1. Or Pratley, Mavies et al et al... The only relevant questions are... Is ...

Re: EMBARGO LIFTED!! #Boom
I'm in a minority who think we've enough cloggers who can't score, but at least Henry might put himself about a bit. Baby steps.

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
You look at it, from such a one-eyed angle that its hard to really discuss it. We didn't have 4 times the wage bill of sides last season though we were more than competitive. This season we're playing teams with 15 or 20 or more times our budget. So its inevitable we'll look worse. As for Parky's s...

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
We weren't so good last season, that Parky is worth staying with because he can do a job next year. And certainly not off the back of the type of season we could be looking at, where you have to imagine at some point fairly soon the players will start blaming the manager.

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
There are only us and Palace in the country who are yet to win a game this season, neither of us have scored in our last six (their first six) or been leading at any point in any game. Wild. Also, good stat from WWays, Parky is currently going at 8 wins from 58 games in the Championship. I don't kno...

Re: A taste of honey, or a sting in the beehind? Bolton v Brentford 23/9/2017
Even while watching, it felt like that first 20 minutes was a big one, both for the season and the Parky era. We actually played some nice stuff and *gasp* created at least two chances. But we didn't score, and after that it was more of what we've been seeing all season. Much will be made that all ...

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
Whether there is a manager available who is capable of keeping us up I don't know. I would imagine that there is, somewhere, but the degree of difficulty in finding him would be high. What I'm sure of, is that there are managers I'd back to have us challenging in League One. So what would we have to...

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?
Voted no. If we've got the money to pot him, I'd rather spend it on bringing a couple of players and let him try again with Ameobi fit. For me, that represents our only chance of staying up. Definitely time to start showing some signs of life though. No wins in the next three and there simply isn't ...

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Has Lewis McGugan's name been mentioned anywhere yet? Was looking through the unattached list before and his was the only name that really stood out. 1 in 5 across nearly 300 games (mostly at this level) is genuinely prolific compared to our boys.

Re: The Alternatives
Maybe the return of Ameobi might return to Postman to his best beat. Sammy suits 4-2-3-1 much better than a 3-5-2 (unless you play him at No.10?), although recently we've been looking more of a 3-4-3. Whatever the formation, the problem is goals, and the lack of them is often due to not getting pla...

Re: The Alternatives
I don't want to sack Parky, but it's more than a bit trite to throw out the boogeyman list. People were asking for a list of potential managers, so I provided one. How people react to that is up to them. I did say it was just some of the English managers available, but the ones I omitted were ones ...

Re: The Alternatives
I don't want to sack Parky, but it's more than a bit trite to throw out the boogeyman list. Fans were in revolt as we dropped into the relegation zone and sacked Megson. Still poached Owen Coyle from Burnley, after he'd taken them up and who I believe were above us at the time. We were even further ...

There are people on here who have been going longer than I, but this must be up there with the most depressing situations we've found ourselves in. There are 39 more games of this.

BWFCI - will you also spout the same shite about lack of quality, not Parkinson's fault etc etc etc when we lose at home to Sheff Utd A team who finished above us last season, and to my knowledge have spent money to improve their lot. And I assume will have a squad with every single player being pa...

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Definitely seems like a deal being done for the benefit of the team. I mean, who hasn't looked at our games so far and thought what's missing is a semi-retired 35-year-old, who was shit 10 years ago, and last seen playing on the legends circuit in a losing effort against a side featuring Stig Tofting.

Even if he was the last target man on earth, turning down anything beyond a million would be ludicrous.

Re: A visit from the Pride without Prejudice....
Clearly it escaped the attention of some that Millwall signed two players that Parky wanted but was unable to afford or sign under the embargo. Thank you for reminding me. So that's a right back from Fleetwood and a midfielder who hasn't played a league game yet. Clearly made all the difference. An...

Re: A visit from the Pride without Prejudice....
Can we go back to having all the match threads in the main board? It looks odd that there's a Derby thread and nothing for the two games afterwards. Anyway, Millwall finished 13 points behind us last season, and have only signed four players since. This idea that we can't compete and should be grate...

Re: A visit from the Pride without Prejudice....
He's a pragmatic manager for sure, as was Allardyce, but what he achieved last season was remarkable given the circumstances. Don't give up on him yet PT He will moan at Parky and any other manager Bolton appoint. He complained bitterly during the Allardyce days. He's a modern day fan who knows bet...
