Re: The Politics Thread

^ Hear hear! I only found out today that 'A small Eva Braun' is an anagram of Suella Braverman Amusing but, alas, not accurate. Suella Braverman has 15 letters, 3 a's, 2 r's and 2 e's. 'A small Eva Braun' has 14 letters, 4 a's, 1 r and 1 e. But all is not lost. You can use 'smaller Eva Braun' and be...

Re: The Politics Thread

Yeah, know it's not leading headline, Monty. But it's just lying a fraction under the surface on pretty much a daily basis. Can't decide whether it would actually strengthen his base if they dumped him in pokey for a bit for contempt or whether it would just help things quieten down... :-) As for S...

Re: The Politics Thread

All gone quiet this Trump stuff, which is not really surprising. What's the latest over there MW? Over here, we've got our government putting migrants on a giant barge at an expense greater than it would have cost to put them all on an all-inclusive year long Round-the-World trip on a luxury cruise...

GM, the "border" is between Horwich and Adlington/Blackrod.
I checked. Alas, Lostock and Horwich are entirely within Greater Manchester.

University of Greater Manchester ??? Get off it. https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/23802268.university-bolton-vc-speaks-greater-manchester-plan/ I never accepted this Greater Manchester business. I was born in Lancashire. Actually I'm not sure where the boundary is. I was born in Lostock and our...

Re: Today I'm happy about......

Short time ago I got a letter from our new doctor informing me I needed a blood test. Paramedics came (I'm on a Zimmer) and did the test at home. Surgeon ordered bowel and bladder samples, wasn't entirely happy and booked me in for a full-body scan on one of those Dr Who, Tardis things. I duly unde...

About every line you could cross in 2023, he's managed it. Whether it's Internationally newsworthy? I think there's probably bigger news stories - but it isn't passing with no comment, TD.. Heck, it even had a ten minute segment on CNN tonight competing with the Wagner plane crash and the Trump mug...

Not at all quiet, but it's all over. Trump is producing an IRREFUTABLE and CONCLUSIVE report on Monday, to show he was right all along. Move over sleepy Joe. He's used capitals, which is always a sign of something being true and it's probably been written by Mike Lindell. Wonder if they'll flip a f...

I got lucky today. I didn't realize it was an early start so have just signed on. Therefore I missed this shambles. Small blessings.

Sad confirmation from Worthy of what I feared. Dujon and I were contemporaries, he being just four months older than me. We actually had a long private email correspondence discussing various things of interest to us. Ironically, the last email I had from him was during the pandemic and he wanted to...

You compare to their situations relative to their sport. I also don’t remember Nat ever winning a trophy that would suggest he was ‘the best in the world’. Is that our Nat the pit-lad you speak of? Nat who won 33 England caps, scored 30 goals for his country and was one of the highest goals-per-gam...

Well as indictments go, Jack Smith's seems to have the bases covered...It's gonna be a bumpy ride... Though the experts say it has very little chance. Guess it depends which "experts" you listen to, they were pretty upbeat on plenty of channels yesterday..Guess it might come down to trying to flip ...

Re: Top 10 British sportswomen of all time.

You cannot mention female tennis players without giving a nod to Angela Mortimer, who won three grand slam tiles in singles and one in doubles. She was once ranked number 1 in the world. No one has come close to that. I believe she is still alive if somewhat ancient now.
