Re: A survival party brewing, or will we be drowning our sorrows? Burton v BWFC 28/4/2018 3pm

I like Parky as a person and it's arguably not his fault that he has a squad with zero strikers he likes. He can leave having done a good job on the whole, but leave he definitely should, particularly if we go down. Next season we'll again have a bigger budget than all bar one team and a group of pl...

This has been a lifeless second half. Arguably worse than the first in that you'd think we'd be able to apply pressure at some stage. Nothing. Endless balls aimlessly dinked into the box and cleared easily.

Two of the softest goals you'll see, from a team allegedly set up to be hard to beat.

Hopeless.

And the idea that Clough isn't one of the 18 best players at the club is ridiculous. He should go just for that.

Looks like Morais and Buckley coming on.

Yeah I'm not convinced that we'd definitely be better off with some lampost up front, just because.

If Kramer comes and is a better option than Wilbraham then great, but the key to the rest of this season will getting the ball to the feet of Ameobi and Clough.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017

Looks like Zach is returning... FFS. What a pointless, pointless signing that is. It's just sign someone to please the fans. He has nobody to play off. And we don't have a system to play him in sensibly anyway, other than off the left. Honestly Bolton fans are going to wank themselves silly over th...

Re: Time to Declare...

Genuine question, Max Clayton and Jay Spearing both went to Blackpool. Have either made good there? Just wondering after seeing Clayton's name on an old squad list. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017%E2%80%9318_Blackpool_F.C._season Would seem not. Spearing joined on the 4th October, has played 9 o...

Re: Scary movie; The race to the bottom; Sunderland v Bolton 31/10/2017

There are obvious positives to take from how we're playing now compared to before the last international break. On more than one occaison over the last four games we've actually looked a decent side. Ultimately though, the 'I'd have taken a point before the game' doesn't really wash when you're a go...

Re: Stats and stuff

Surely the reason Spearing hasn't got a club is because of the wages he wants? Otherwise he'd have signed here months back. The majority of League One clubs couldn't afford him, in the same way they couldn't have afforded a lot of the players we had last year.

In the name of balance, I did think this was a heartening read. Wish he'd put the ball in the net though.

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?

I don't believe there is any version of the past where going on your worst league start in a century would be seen as nothing. Except apparently if you're Ken Anderson. In terms of naming clubs who regularly sack their managers and remain successful - Real Madrid, Chelsea, Man City, Barcelona... I m...

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?

Was PPs biggest mistake gettng a shit team promoted last season If we had got into the play offs and then failed would we be calling for his head right now - while winning games in league one with our current league one standard team ? We're not going to be competitive without investment .. end of ...

Re: Zeros and Villans: Aston Villa (A) 30/9/17

FWIW also, if we started ALF for the next 8 games and tried to funnel everything through him, I'm convinced we would score at least one goal and win no less than zero games. So it might be worth a try at some point.

Re: Zeros and Villans: Aston Villa (A) 30/9/17

Madine is undoubtedly the best option if we're playing a direct game but in a successful side at a lower level he struggled to get in double figures. Perhaps style needs to change as well? Alf up.top and Armstrong in the hole or wide in a 4-5-1 ALF would have to actually do something outside the bo...

Re: Should Phil Parkinson be sacked?

Said he needed four points from Bristol, Villa and Barnsley, and the most we can get is three.

We look to be improving, but only by our previously pathetic standards. 11 games, of which we haven't scored in 9, no wins and we're seven points adrift already. Time to start looking elsewhere.

Re: Stats and stuff

I did wonder the other day whether someone was doing expected goals for the Championship. I don't love it, but I do think it's a better measurement than just looking at how many shots we have. Anecdotally, we seem to go several games without creating a half decent chance. The first half against Bren...

Re: Bouncing back in Bristle? You must be off your Bristol Cities. Bristol City v Bolton 26/9/2017

Apart from being a "big lad" what does Madine really offer ? I'd love to see his shots/headers to goal ratio - we'd be able to sue under the trades description act. I think he's done ok this season, but certainly not enough to where he'd be the first name on the teamsheet. Playing with big lumps up...

Re: Bouncing back in Bristle? You must be off your Bristol Cities. Bristol City v Bolton 26/9/2017

I see moneybags Millwall won again. Given I didn't see either of the games in which we took our two points, I have to say that's probably the best I've seen us play this season. Let's not overstate things - we lost by multiple goals to nil against a mediocre side, had a man sent off and didn't creat...

Re: Bouncing back in Bristle? You must be off your Bristol Cities. Bristol City v Bolton 26/9/2017

Had a solid enough first half hour. Didn't create a chance (obvs), but at least looked somewhat competent. Got pushed further back, couldn't get out, then conceded. They probably could've had another after that as well. Ironically Morais was switched over to the right early on, as Little was getting...
