Re: Boxing Clever...Shrewsbury Home 26th Dec.

Scunny held 0-0 at Bradford. According to my maths that means two points between the top three? Correct - unfortunately we are third. True, but it's in our hands. Winning on Thursday would take us back into the auto zone - and could also knock Scunny out of it for the first time in a long while, wh...

Depends if the new Palace owners fancy Sam

Re: FA Cup 3rd rd

Might be the return of Allardyce. Wha? He'll be back sooner or later at a club who want to stay up. Can't see him going back to Sunderland or West Ham, he'd be an idiot to go to Hull, Swansea might not fancy him and Burnley/Leicester won't sack their bosses. Palace are next up the list. Thought you...

Re: Ched Evans - Do women want their ..Chesterfield (a) Sat

I would dearly love Chris Taylor to score. He was close on a couple of occasions on Monday and didn't do a lot wrong (IMO) Saturday. He's not Zach Clough, but that's not unusual for this division. Henry I'd also like to do well, but I'm less convinced he genuinely wants it. Slightly surprised to hea...

Re: Ched Evans - Do women want their ..Chesterfield (a) Sat

if we want to go up, our front 4 have to score more. Not sure they do - they'd got 7 in the previous two games. But we do need to work out how to come from behind, on the thankfully rare occasions we slip. This wasn't as bad as Walsall, where even before half-time the midfield frequently abdicated ...

Re: Ched Evans - Do women want their ..Chesterfield (a) Sat

Grumbly pissed bloke who materialised alongside my aisle seat spent the last 10 minutes complaining. One of his more coherent thought processes, which is a low bar but there you go, went something along the lines of "this is shit... like at Walsall, and Peterborough, and..." then he shut up. Probabl...

Re: Ched Evans - Do women want their ..Chesterfield (a) Sat

Not playing badly. Much the better team before conceding. Bit dopey, just need to be sharper. Half-time should hopefully sort us out.

Re: Saturdays are becoming enjoyable once more

Monty's right. I now go to games with a feeling of excited anticipation rather than grudging duty. I mean, we haven't yet played consistently breathtaking, Rioch/Todd two-wingers balls-out-attack stuff, but there's something to be loved in our current style and substance. As an older man, and as a c...

Re: The Scally Kents - Gillingham (H) - Mon 12 Dec 20:00

Three things stood out for me about Washing Machine's performance. #1 and by far the most important: he got himself in the box. Someone above said that he's aways in there; not in the (v limited this season tbf) games I've seen. Peterborough in particular it looked like the "12 yard box" was the vi...

Re: Ken Anderson - New Owner (Definitely. For Now ..... )

From Ken's programme notes, per BN . There seems to be a great deal of media speculation and radio interviews taking place at the moment where the comments being aired are very wide of the mark. I find it very disappointing that people who should know better are making speculative and misinformed co...

Re: Contract expiry

Vela's pressing is so vital, the amount of attacks that seem to start from his pressuring or winning the ball high up the field is ridiculous. I remember Chungy used to read things well and intercept a fair few balls high up the pitch but Vela is playing like a man possessed. Where did this idea th...

Re: Contract expiry

Even if he's fit, which isn't a given, we won't be re-signing Mark Davies on anything like the wages he was on. I think we can rest easy on that.

But the resurfacing of this thread reminds me that I need to update the list itself. Anyone else bar Vela signed new contracts since the window?

Re: The Scally Kents - Gillingham (H) - Mon 12 Dec 20:00

The worst thing about the night was the voices-on-sticks constantly referring to our IMMINENT FINANCIAL MELTDOWN and speculating how all our best players were definitely going next month. I know there's an uncertainty there but it struck me as needless narrative-seeking speculation. I guess any thir...

Re: The Scally Kents - Gillingham (H) - Mon 12 Dec 20:00

Very nice. In fact, I was so impressed that I messaged a couple of the coaches at my club to watch it if they could: a superbly diligent example of pressing, working for each other, movement and creation in the 4-2-3-1. Justin Edinburgh spends the whole game with a face best described as "Surprised ...

I love Keith Hill. Sounds like they hammered Scunny today before easing off too early; they made us look like idiots, and they were also nine minutes off winning at Bramall Lane.

Re: Pratley

I'm hoping he might be a plus to the side. Vela looks so much better now he's been pushed further up the park and obviously, he's scoring quite regularly too. Wasn't that Pratley's position when we got him from Swansea? They seemed to rate him pretty highly. But, he might be crap again. I've never ...
