They're welcome to him. Freebie or not, he's not for us. From what I've seen of him, he'd be behind every other midfielder in our first team squad

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.
And there aren't question marks about Collins ability to cut it in the Championship? So is the issue just that you don't think Collins is very good? No, my issue is that signing him for a relatively big fee now reduces our flexibility in the next window and commits us to a group of strikers in whom...

At the end of the day, we played against one of the better teams in the league, with an exceptional home record and really, based on chances, should have won the game.
No criticism coning from my way

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.
This Collins deal. Presumably being in Jan, where you offer X.5yr deals, we'd be more inclined to offer 3.5 years, than 2.5 years? Ideally if signed in the summer, we'd be looking to offer him a 3yr deal, so that is something else that has to be factored into his cost. An additional half year, or ye...

I had never heard of either Ennis or Collins until this week. We know Vic can do it for us and has more goals than both of them combined, probably.
I'm not sold on this Ennis whatsoever to be honest from what I have read. Seems like a high earner and has fitness issues

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.
Not unreasonable, but if the "test" of managerial competence is "did we get promoted or not" - which clearly some people have it down as, then achieving that aim would be the most part of the victory condition, despite what might have occurred on the journey... "Managers are judged on results" may ...

Thomason was ok. I would save "superb" for games where he has a much bigger impact

Re: To be continued. Home to Cheltenham, Tues Jan 23rd , 7-45.
Well, we got away with one there, didn't we! Outplayed almost all over the pitch and very lucky to escape with 3 points when we didn't even deserve 1. We need bodies in. We look jaded, short on solutions to problems that teams pose us and we're starting to look very predictable. Something needs to h...

Re: To be continued..Home to Cheltenham Jan 23rd , 7-45.
The opening 20 minutes of the postponed game was a reminder that these are no mugs. 2 clear chances they had - 1 skewed wide from a few yards out and a good save from Baxter. We, on the other hand, couldn't find teammates and were harried into mistakes. I'd go Sheehan, Maghoma, Thomason in midfield ...

We SHOULD have the money for it though, shouldn't we?
I agree that we need numbers in to help us, but no point in them not being as good as anybody else. We need Improvements. Players who will improve the XI, not just beef up the bench.

Not sure I take Blackburn as good judges - Kevin Davies etc - but I did also say “or whoever”. If we recruit someone slower than Cameron Jerome then I suggest we rehire Tobias Phoenix. We've already got 3 strikers slower than Jerome We were poor on Saturday. As bad as we've been this season away fr...

Re: F.A.Cup...V Luton away Sun, 7th Jan 2-0'clock.
Part of the plan was to engage them. Make them jump into the press when they weren't ready to and we break it and are in behind. It worked numerous times and the amount of 4v4 situations that we presented and nearly took was great. Really took the game to them It is risk and reward though. Sometimes...

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.
I thought the issue with Baccus was that he longer represented the value we wanted to outlay on him? That generally suggests his agent got involved and his expense went up. I wish we'd have taken the punt to be honest, as he looked very good against England in the last round of internationals and po...

Perversely..
Boro can't loan Jonny Epsom Salts from Burnley, until the wages of Carl Thompson are temporarily off the books..... (?)
So it can go the other way. I suppose that would be more relevant to our division than the crack pot one above mind
