Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm
We have to treat every game as a "Barnsley" if we want that promotion. We know we have it in us and that some games will be harder than others, but the pattern emerging from our opponents is remarkably similar: pen Bolton in with big throws and long balls and they'll crack. Do that and park the bus ...

Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm
Yeah he was excellent second half. No surprise he's the one who finally found The Vic Run. Think he and Dion could be far too good for L1 defences. Not sure about that Pru. We haven't exactly not scored from playing badly, rather kept in check by decent defences and good goalies. A good lead in to ...

Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm
To coin somebody else saying it first, "This feels more like a win than a win" .We weren't expected to get anything at Jokewell so a draw there is double delicious. An extra-time penalty and goal, who would believe it? This is entertainment. Play it again Ian..

Absolute roller-coaster. Not advisable for weak hearts though. A real ding-dong-do. Would have loved beloved Dave Hickson (R.I.P.) commentating this one..

Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm
Once again the opposition goalie was their man of the match. Just shows, our front men can operate if you get the ball to them. Against a spoiling, fouling time-wasting lot. Toal seemed up for fisticuffs at the end. Has to be "All's well that ends well", although I wasn't very mannerly till we score...

"Dion Charles is back on the grass and will be assessed ahead of the trip to Barnsley," Ian Evatt has confirmed.

Re: Cam on, fear the noise: Cambridge (H) Sat 2 Mar 3pm
I was expecting to come on here and read about a composed, polished performance where we dominated our oponents without getting out of second gear, but instead it's a feckin doom fest. I'll do it instead. - Great for Coleman to get a clean sheet. He deserves it. Won us the points v Wycombe a few we...

Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm
The more we regard this as a special game, the more we'll be tempted to play less confidentially than normal. Whoever we play it's three points to gain for a win, one if we draw and nothing at all to lose even if we do. A bonus from not letting Barnsley or any of those around us advance away from us...

Best to see this one as no more or less important than the rest. We need to win them all, so regard them all the same as regards effort and attitude.

Plus there are twenty five other teams with much the same idea of course. Perfection is a good goal to aim for, but rarely attained in football for long, if ever.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 10:06 am
So perhaps it’s not about mental stuff and more about a lack of efficiency?

Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm
Staying positive, we can win this, but only if we deserve to. Luck, bad refs and careless play will probably be less in evidence here than in lesser games, so our best efforts are needed. I was chuffed at the way we defended against Cambridge in terms of effort and covering for each other, but we'll...

Not being afraid to say "I just don't know", I don't subscribe to the Nostradamus Chronicle or such-like views. Omelettes and egg sayings have never been truer and even the wildest speculation is only a hamstring away from fact or fiction. It's all just a massive guessing game with "if" the real vi...
