Re: The Politics Thread

Corbyn has just absolutely ripped the piss out of May - saying that if she can't do the deal with the DUP that Labour are ready to offer "strong and stable" leadership. I could warm to confident on the front foot Corbyn. Strong and stable leadership? Is this the party leader that their own MP's ref...

We'll end so agreeing a technicality where things stay basically as they are but we pay some sort of indirect premium that allows us to claim to have technically left.
As Sir Humphrey would have said.... :oyea:

I don't see an "outcome" that everyone will agree on...or even a split much better than 51.8%/48.2%... Our position has always been - we want Free Trade and zero Free Movement. I'll hold my hands up and admit I got it wrong. Thought, basically, we would get some cash to assist the NHS, that's clearly not going to happen, and what I voted for is tearing the country apart - in 2015 we had a , erm, strong and stable government, now we are goverened by a dozen loopy-tunes fro...

You just know that immigration figures will become like employment figures. Certain groups will be moved to a different column in the spreadsheet and hey looky, immigration is down :oyea: For a start I think students were removed from the immigration stats?? Re: The Politics Thread

I've always felt that way. But then I always thought that a simplistic leave/remain vote was perhaps the singularly most stupid question to pose. Lets be clear, the question was so ambiguously vague as to unite sellers of socialist worker and the fascist of UKIP and the BNP. It's hardly going to be...

Re: Time to Bury one and get us out of this league? Home - Tuesday 18th 8.00pm

Parkinson needs to start with Long tomorrow because he has the pace needed to get behind the Bury back line. Bury will provide stubborn opponents for a Bolton team losing their last two games. Goals seem to have dried up after their recent scoring spree. Failure to beat Bury will put even more pres...

One thing it isn't is a "Cup Final" as both teams get another go, and another go after that if I've done my sums right. Q - is the game likely to be sold out or will tickets be available up to KO tomorrow?

Re: Would it have been better/cheaper to redevelop Burnden P

Who would buy the football ground? Wigan? They've already bought our training ground :D But seriously Reebok is the better option by far. The town centre is terrible these days. Possibly part due to a lack of footfall of 20,000 or so people every other Saturday? Or more likely - A massive lack of i...

Re: Vela's Behaviour

Mutual acquaintance was there when this all played out. From what I've heard about the exchanges, Josh (reportedly) said some things that - even accounting for drunkenness - make me question his long term commitment to the club, on top of the spat with the staff. I'll be very surprised if Wheater d...

Re: Would it have been better/cheaper to redevelop Burnden P

It's interesting reading the thoughts that there is a remote possibility of selling/leasing the Middlebrook site and going back into town! Can't think that the land is so valuable that a multi-million stadium can be demolished after just 20 years. That would be mindless...? They managed it with Rio...

Re: Would it have been better/cheaper to redevelop Burnden P

How much were Normid selling for? And are you after a stadium that met all relevant standards and building regulations or just bolting seats onto the open end? Its not as simple a question as you make out. Do you know the difference between developing a brownfield plot including demolition and reme...

Would it have been better/cheaper to redevelop Burnden Park?

20 years on, there will be fans on here who won't have seen one game @ Burnden. It was a fine old stadium that turned, like today's finances, into a shambles with a whole shop on half the Embankment. But there was space, and if Normid had been bought out and the land returned, how much would it have...

Way To Make Money. Sell the script of two club owners at each others throats. Re: Pigs might fly...Charlton (h) 28th Jan 2017

Wilkinson loan tied. That's two clubs he's played for now. Which shows us a statement of intent that we're going to keep him or loan him back to Chesterfield again. He played for us earlier in the season anyway, Mar. I'm not going to argue with anyone who went, or anyone who's unhappy, but it strik...

Re: Parky's Men v Mrs Brown's Boys - Southend Utd (A) 21/01/

I know it's a big ask for third and fourth division clubs, but these days shouldn't ti be compulsory for first (OK, Premier Whatever) and second division clubs to have undersoil heating, and third can only go up if they already have it or will install over the summer? Considering fans are now paying...
