Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.

I’d say at that point I had more belief than ever before or since that when the crunch came, when it really mattered we would have a better than evens chance of winning. Maybe false confidence because we all know these runs don’t last. Allardyce's teams were fallible, as all teams are. Confidence i...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.

The Allardyce team with 14 away wins was definitely one I trusted. They were so effective at dismissing opponents and making the most of a fairly limited squad and finances, compared to the two who went up automatically. That said, I was out of the country for much of that season, so viewing it rem...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.

Was at both those Barnsley games, one at theirs we were second best in. The home game we were behind and the original tomo snatched a point, but I think we were knocking on the door in the second half. That's a very questionable description Dibs! Peter, Steve and maybe even Chris might disagree :mr...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.

Been thinking a lot about the "big-game bottlers" tag. Here's a question open to all: Who was the last Bolton team you truly trusted to win those very crucial games against (other) table-toppers? Parky's promotion team? Not for me. I've written several times before about how confident I was once the...

If Charles is back fit, does he feature tomorrow?

Or do we rest him and hope NI rest him too

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.

As for the "odd comparison" We could assume they get a lower points total, but they'll get a lower points total just by matching last years run-in tally. They'd have to get higher number of points to hit the same final tally. So for Derby to get to 2nd place, they'd need 23 points, so 8 wins to get...

Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign

Thanks, Mar. I do like it when people do research. As you say, in this case it's inconclusive to an extent (not enough data on away games) but it suggests we as fans may be humanly vulnerable to confirmation bias. As fans who love the team, it hurts when we lose to rivals – whether temporary promoti...

Re: Not exactly a Derby. Away to The Rams, Sat 16th March 3-0'clock.

@Worthy interesting stuff, thanks for researching. I have a couple of questions… First I'm assuming the 2nd and 3rd mentions of "Plymouth" re this season are actually Portsmouth. :-D More overall. If we're saying that barring Pompey, this term's pace is currently slightly cooler that last year's – a...

Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign

Looks like Stevenage's Piergianni(?) will likely get a 3 match ban for a pretty shitty off the ball elbow into a P'boro players' face. Very typical of a Steve Evans player - Especially as they see that sort of 'physicality' as a leveller Their third game from now being us, so all good. Even if they...

Sheehan generally doesn't play for Wales though, right?
A Cymru fan of my acquaintance recently described him as their reserve No.6.

Can someone check the Barnsley fans are alright
They won yesterday so I don't think they'll be too upset.
Just that eight days ago they were two minutes from going 2nd and now they’re 5th….
