Re: Where are you going tonight?

Thursday I'm off to see a play. The Final Problem. Loosely based around the Sherlock Holmes story it's a narrative by Doctor Watson.

Mrs GtE loves Murder Mysteries and especially Sherlock Holmes so I hope it's good.

Re: Where are you going tonight?

Just looking on one site. Cheapest Manchester tickets (Standing) £202.80 + 2.50 handling fee. Each. So they can Fvck off. Yet it'll still sell out. I've never known any body of people quite like the devotees of Iron Maiden to be so seemingly desperate to throw swathes of their money at anything. Do...

Re: The Politics Thread

If Putin decides to go tactically nuclear I think he'll target the UK. We're an island nation, physically removed from Europe. Nuclear weapons trained on London/ Liverpool/ Manchester/ Leeds/ Glasgow/ Edinburgh and Belfast would decimate the population and industry. This 'warning shot' would either ...

Re: Where are you going tonight?

That's floating vs demand for ya! ridiculous. I'm off to see Massive Wagons at the Sugarhouse in Lancaster on Sunday. Great band with a solid following. Should be a cracker. December is Planet Rockstock in South Wales. Three days of solid classic and new Heavy Rock. In a caravan park. Was brilliant...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Got Knutsford 10km Sunday and Leeds Abbey Dash the week after but my calf is playing silly buggers. Tweaked it warming up for ParkRun on Saturday. Sports massage booked for tomorrow will, hopefully, sort it out.

Re: Where are you going tonight?

That Maiden gig Bruce and I went to in 2017 was £65 I think, which I thought was a lot at the time. £75 would be ok. Any more and I'll stick with Ey Up Maiden at the Duck and Drake. I see that the presale starts today. Has anyone had a look? Thought it was tomorrow! Just looking on one site. Cheape...

Re: What are you watching tonight?

I can only think of his portrayal as Al Capone in Boardwalk Empire as a role where he wasn't Scouse. He did play Capone with a frightening intensity though. Haven't seen that. He did also play Anthony Provenzano in The Irishman. However, when set against the wonderful Bronx accents of De Niro and P...

Re: What are you watching tonight?

Binge-watched three episodes of The Walk-In last night.A hard-hitting affair based on the activity of far Right groups and the true story of Matthew Collins' conversion from poacher to gamekeeper. Now, fine actor though Stephen Graham is, I'm getting a little tired of him playing every character he...

Re: Where are you going tonight?

I'm waiting to see what the Iron Maiden tickets will go on sale for this Friday. I've never seen them in an enclosed space (but twice at Monsters of Rock - Donnington). If I can get tickets for less than £75 I'll be astounded. But it may also be the last chance to see them with their full stage sho...

Re: What are you reading tonight?

Twitter. I don’t use it lots but after a match, especially after a win against your biggest rivals, it’s just a delight. What, you missed Tony Adams doing a Charlston? Shame on you as a Gooner.. I saw him yesterday! Has he been booted out now? No, he improved and got through. :D Bit tal...

Re: What are you watching tonight?

Not tonight but last night I went to the Octagon Theatre to see a new adaptation of The Book Thief.

It's been written as a musical and is debuting at the Octagon. I'm not much of a reviewer but I can only say I urge you to catch it if you can. Runs until 15th October.

Anyone see the Scotland Ukraine game last night?

The 'tackle' by Bondar on Adams was an absolute shocker. How he only got a yellow (insert pretend best friend's name here) alone knows!

I'm sure I read that they had set up a major sponsor for next season and the Stadium name change would come from that?

Re: The athletics/running thread

Struggled around 4.5K yesterday with oldest son. The realisation that he’s only going to get faster and I’m only going to get slower was slightly depressing. Not necessarily. I'm 55 and regularly running against (and bettering) people 30 years younger. Not because I'm a good runner. LE is consisten...

Re: What are you watching tonight?

Tango, have you seen the TV series on Netflix? Just called Reacher Yes mate. That's the one I mentioned above. I have hopes it may do the trick. Time will tell. I tried to watch the latest Bond film, it's absolute piffle. Time to put the Beretta away James. I've also seen a couple of the latest Tom...
