Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!

I'm not sure who gives the nod on accepting an offer, Lennon or Gartside, but if I was Lennon I'd start lining up potential signings for a replacement centre half and at least another full back. At least depending on how much we'll get to spend. Prince, Derik, Wheater, Dervite + kids should be alri...

Re: Capital One Cup first round - Burton (H) this tuesday

surely early days in the season, minutes on the pitch are valuable? Yep - which is why it would be good for Vela, Davies etc to get a runout. I don't think anybody's saying "We're a Premiership team, Allardyce should be playing the Academy". I wouldn't be looking at say Twardzik or Woolery, althoug...

Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!

Wonder if Millwall might be interested in taking Trotter back. Not that his wage will be much compared to some, or even most, of the squad.

Re: Ram Bam, Thank You Ma'am. Derby match thread

Said it might be unpopular... Broad question: is it only a dive if it's followed by an appeal? I'd say not necessarily – maybe he remembered he was already on a yellow and didn't fancy another for dissent – but I'm perfectly happy for others to disagree. I maintain that if he'd really wanted to – sa...

Re: Ram Bam, Thank You Ma'am. Derby match thread

Maybe he thinks Vela doesn't yet have the experienced street-smarts to see out a game

Mind you, Trotter certainly doesn't

Early days but it sounds like Lennon might be following his Pratley trick with maximising Moxey

Maybe Trotter's a miracle too far to ask

Re: Capital One Cup first round - Burton (H) this tuesday

I'd like to see Clough get at least 45 minutes running at a lower-league team. Would be good to get Davies, Trotter (yes), Vela and Dobbie some match time. Maybe Fitzsimons too, to see if he can handle it (might even convince us we don't need a bench-sitting standby). Back four depends on fitness. N...

Re: Ram Bam, Thank You Ma'am. Derby match thread

Might be unpopular but...

I think Spearing, who hasn't got a left foot, went down far too easily. Or, in old money, "dived".

Put it this way: had Ince gone down after that much contact from Dervite, we'd have been crucifying him.

Re: BBC one football league show or Channel 5's version?

Perhaps the most uncomfortable TV watching since the era of Extras and Curb Your Enthusiasm... And they were *supposed* to be uncomfortable. There's so much wrong with it that it's difficult to know where to start. Like most stuff on Five it's as if it's been made by GSCE Media Studies pupils high o...

Re: Ram Bam, Thank You Ma'am. Derby match thread

I was truly impressed by the Prince. Long my he reign. Do princes reign? :D Given that we have Wheater, Ream & Derik missing from there then that all looks pretty good. As Bruce notes, we've almost too many. I do hope Moxey turns into a left-back, because we really need overlapping (especially with...

Re: Ram Bam, Thank You Ma'am. Derby match thread

I said when Spearing got his first yellow that I was worried. I'm not sure he deserved to go but it's a risk. Last season you couldn't appeal a second yellow and if that rule changed over summer, I didn't hear about it (but that doesn't mean it didn't happen). Tower commentators very impressed with ...

Ooh. That's not good, then. Hopefully a good start (and a signing or two?) might tempt folk back. Or maybe people are obeying Boris's £25 bar...
