Re: The Christmas thread

Poor old Hoboh declared an anger amnesty for Christmas Day and then gets blamed for someone else's rant. Shocking.

Re: New Manager Syndrome (Tykes Boxing Day)

Very entertaining preview Tango. More puns than you can shake a stick at. A1's head will be spinning, hope the poor lad's got something to hand to chill him out. Not making any predictions, but the fact that I turned down a free ticket suggests they will win in my absence. I've a feeling we'll conti...

Re: The athletics/running thread

Merry Christmas fellow athletes. In an effort to counteract the forthcoming overindulgence I aim to do a couple of runs over the next few says. First up is Rivington Pike. I did this yesterday in the pitch dark and forgot to take my headtorch which slowed my ascent from the boarding kennels to the ...

Re: Freedman out!

All I am saying is that we are not as good as we think we are. We need some better quality players. DF has brought in some players with very little funds available. If the players on big contracts move on, and we get some good players in, then I will judge DF. We do need better quality players to c...

Re: Winter ashes...

While that might be true Jaffka, it should have been left to the end of the series he signed up to then bailed out of. Not disagreeing with his retirement, just the timing of it. He signed up for the Ashes series, he should have seen it out. Simple as that. Even if it meant sitting on the sidelines ...

Re: Freedman out!

I remember being shouted down for suggesting that despite what was being said, what was being done was just the same as before. Exhibit A - Mason. What was it? Why are we loaning in other clubs promising young players to improve them for someone else, at the expense of our own? Well, why are we sti...

Re: Freedman out!

At the fans forum in pre season amidst much mirth (& groans) from the audience, he announced Zat Knight would be captain. He then eulogised about Ngog and what a special talent he was. At some point he referred to not liking the loan system due to developing other clubs players. It all adds up to h...

Probably the best film of that genre I've seen, the live music scenes are fantastic. I generally find biopics boring, especially if they follow the standard formula of rise to fame- personal problems - redemption.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....

They allow the worker the right to not handle these products but M&S have a policy of not putting such workers on tills where it may cause a problem like this. So they are apologising for a failure of management to adhere to policy whilst maintaining the worker's right to refuse. Would be a real sha...

Re: Villas Boaz gone

:conf: So why not just keep AVB in the job 'til next summer then? Largely because of the defensive style AVB used if the media is to be believed. The club and fans wanted a change. Sherwood prefers a more attacking style apparently. Exactly, people don't like to see the blunting of attacking talent...

They're all kissing his arse on Sky, not seemingly offering any alternative views since they have a contract to show England matches and want to stay cosy. He could have stayed and supported, helped younger players or whoever took his place. If he wanted to be at home for Christmas he shouldn't have...

I'd put those congratulations on hold just for now. Have you seen the caveats to that statement? Something along the lines of he'll be meeting with Tan and if discussions don't go well they'll get the best manager to take them forward. I suspect he wants Mackay to grovel and if not he'll take pleasu...

I'd say as soon as Malky Mackay gets the boot thanks Dougie for his efforts and get on the phone. A bit like QPR ditching Hughes for Redknapp last year for fear of missing out.

Re: Another home win or will Dougie look A-Ddick?

Whatever he does doesn't seem to matter in terms of personnel, tactics etc. We all say 'drop Knight and Wheater', 'don't play Medo and Spearing together' 'get eagles back in at home' and then it happens as we wanted it to and we're still not winning. I can only assume that the coaching is wrong or h...

Re: Another home win or will Dougie look A-Ddick?

Honestly, it wasn't that bad! Early leader in the Specsavers Supporter of the Year competition. It was dismal, inept and frustrating. The fact that it wasn't that bad compared to what has gone before, yet we STILL failed to beat a poor struggling side at home, is what is most worrying. Pru did say ...
