Re: Pints, Punts and Points. Home v Cambridge United, Easter Monday 3-0'clock

I think I'd be more terrified of a back 4 than a back 3 considering the current options. Johnston-Mbete-Jones has its obvious pitfalls, but the alternative is having either Mbete or Jones on the right side of a central two. Plus the thrill of utterly nullifying the attacking threat of Bradley, unle...

Re: League One, 2022/23

And only just spotted that Barnsley lost to Exeter as well. Our next opponents... with a cup final hangover.
I think we'll be on 7th or even 8th for a few games but creep back in with that run of 3 home games towards the end.

Re: Abide with us...v Plymouth Argyle Sunday 2nd April 3-O'clock WEMBLEY

Part of me wonders if we might try something different and say give Lee and Sheehan completely free roles off of Charles. I’m not convinced Jerome can contribute for long enough for this occasion to start and Kachunga - as much as he did a job in the semi final….I’m far from convinced generally. He...

Re: Tonight's Football

Fulham currently self imploding after being in a brilliant position  Absolute madness. No idea why he handballed it. But he did. And it’s a red and a penalty. Mitrovic will get a long ban. Mind Fernandes did the same at Anfield and nowt happened. I think it came at him rather than he tried to...

Re: League One, 2022/23

All the scores are going against us so far. Fun, fun, fun. Peterborough and Wycombe will win. My guess is we will need 6 more wins for a play off place. I’d say there is no room for error at home now. We WILL need to win all those games. Then pick up a couple on the road. Burton and Bristol or Oxfo...

Re: "Wednesday's child is full of woe". Away to Sheffield Wednesday, Friday Mar.17th 7-45.

Ipswich was a pretty sobering reminder of the difference between genuine promotion contenders and a decent league 1 side. Going over for this one with BP and fearing the worst. That we bump into a drunken LE :D Expecting nowt and that our soft underbelly will be exposed by a dominant, physical Wedn...

Re: "Wednesday's child is full of woe". Away to Sheffield Wednesday, Friday Mar.17th 7-45.

Looks like Williams and jonhstone will be back for the run in, both would be an upgrade on Saturday from what I've heard. Doubt either will start at Hillsborough though, and I fear for Mbete. I'm going and staying over because it's my mate's birthday so I'm going to expect nothing, enjoy the big gam...

Re: "Wednesday's child is full of woe". Away to Sheffield Wednesday, Friday Mar.17th 7-45.

I'm not very confident of coming away from this with anything much...But I'm also not sure it's season defining (if we go on and win the ones after it)... It’s not as an isolated fixture. For sure. It’s a game you go ‘it’s a bonus if we get anything’. But, we’ve just lost two out of the last three....

Re Friday I think I read somewhere because Sheffield United were at home but now they're not.
We do sometimes surprise better teams away from home because the onus is on them to come out and attack. Plus 23 game runs are even rarer than 22game runs...

Re: League One, 2022/23

Important games for us tomorrow. Wycombe, Posh and Pompey all away from home. Not often I want Joey Barton to win a football game. At the moment it looks like a limp to the end to be 6th place whipping boys, but things can change drastically in the last few games as teams rally and others run out o...

Re: A switch of the (h) Ips and we're gone..Home V THE Tractor Boys Sat 11th Mar. 3-0'clock

I work with a Huddersfield ST holder. He tells me Mbete is good in the ball but the worst defender he's seen at the club. He was a cheap panic buy. Let's hope Johnstone (who I also don't rate) is back soon and we dint see him again. I imagine he's one of those athlete types who drags out a career fr...

I think everyone expects a drubbing at Hillsborough. I'm there for the atmosphere and beer!
Would be worse I think if we had a game were expected to win and failed to do so.
Did you get there or remain happily snowed in?

I agree. I don't think they will put us out of our misery! 3rd-5th look miles better than us but 7/8th just as average.

Re: A switch of the (h) Ips and we're gone..Home V THE Tractor Boys Sat 11th Mar. 3-0'clock

Hopefully the Evatt 'wankathon' will now stop, he's a average manager who's been quite well backed by the board but isn't that good. I think he's done well, but like you say, has been well backed. I've never been a huge fan but if he left I think we're as likely to get a worse manager then a better...

Re: A switch of the (h) Ips and we're gone..Home V THE Tractor Boys Sat 11th Mar. 3-0'clock

It's a common script. Better team picks us off then doesn't even have to be any good to see out the win. We can beat the dross and flatter to deceive, but get found out. Archetypal flat track bullies. Honest and hard-working but not good enough to step up. It's why we'll lose at Wembley and limply r...

Wycombe 2 down but playing against 10 men for whole second half. That really would be a blow to the playoff hopes.

Sounds like they've got the measure of us too. Can't see anything from this now. Probably finish 2-0. I'm not watching though. Any signs of optimism from those who are?
We've 2 very different strikers on the bench though, so options to go for it towards the end.
