Re: The Politics Thread

Theresa May, Michael Gove, Ken Livingstone, Boris Johnson, David Cameron... fine minds. I just realised you were being ironic Athers. Sorry. Naming game? come on FWIW All are intelligent*, even Gove, who I too dislike and don't think is any good, is an example of social mobility and the President o...

Re: The Politics Thread

MPs on under £30k a year! A real incentive there for our finest minds to go into public service when a 21 year old graduate at PWC earns more. Which fine minds then would be interested in pursuing a career in public service were this the case? Perhaps those with inherited wealth like the much-deride...

Re: The Debt.

As Lostock is a Category One academy we must spend £2.5m per year on it so I'm going to assume everything needed for the first team to be there as well?

If possible it's surely worth considering that they can merge two sites into one considering the cost savings

Re: BW Supporters Trust

A seat on the board is famous at Swansea and is a reasonable goal I'd say. Doubt said person would have any power at all but why not try. I fear one has to go as low as Portsmouth have before it becomes accessible for a ST to actually start getting % shares in the club. For what it's worth there is ...

Funny how you can go off a team!

Re: It's probably just me

The videos they post on social media is a lot better these days, when we were actually scoring those goals they'd be grainy footage recorded off a stream and still taken off YouTube in minutes by the Premier League!

Still, only goals we see these days etc.

Re: The Debt.

Has anyone seen anything on how we do per month £+/- without paying the first team? It must be horrendous if there's not enough coming in to pay the normal staff either!? But I suppose we'd enter the world of cash flow issues and such rather than it being simple.

Re: The Debt.

Seems a bit quick 10 days into December for HMRC to issue this, but they and everyone else in the world knows we have zero cash, and they've been somewhat stiffed by lots of clubs previously, so I suppose it's fair enough.

Re: The Debt.

It will be a crying shame if we lose Clough, which I guess we will do due to relegation even if he's not sold for financial reasons. Best prospect in years (Vaz Te? Nolan?) and the whole point of that shiny academy. We'll probably get enough to keep the lights on :( I personally think he's another ...

Re: What sort of football club can the town of Bolton suppor

*without research* The unfortunate truth is that football supporters aren't as sensitive to price (inelastic, technically) as we perhaps should be. If we start from where we are and want to raise more revenue, we'd be better off increasing the price than decreasing. I honestly think we'd not get 20,...

Re: The Debt.

Unfortunately we're in a different league financially too now to Palace - £1.5m loss seems to be racked up every 6 or 7 weeks, not a year.

As a group of people that largely keep apart from the wider community, are they the last victims of open discrimination/prejudice? Suspect they will be until they abandon their caravans and move into the streets/modern world. Finding faeces on formerly used land and that 'Gypsy wedding' TV show (ex...

Re: What sort of football club can the town of Bolton suppor

It's a fair point, but just to note that I think the question applies to the Football League only. If somehow BWFC was dropped back into the Premier League, they could let the crowd in for free and it wouldn't really dent the revenue. So in that sense we could support a PL club. In the Football Leag...

Presumably you refer to the 'pressure' which Stella Creasy, Liz Kendall and others have faced in recent days. It's like Amercia's Tea Party movement in reverse spectrum. The best is the woman from TUSC Party who stood against Stella Creasy in May who is now on TV campaigning for her de-selection. Ho...
