Re: Raising the Bar: Barnsley (A), Tue 5 Mar 7.45pm
loved that. We absolutely battered them. unlucky not to win it. Unlucky not have been playing against 9 men for most of the 2nd half. Unlucky not to have had the opportunity to miss 3 penalties I'm delighted for the players, but fvck me, they look disgruntled with the fans. Most heading down the tu...

Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
I don't think I know what's acceptable or not anymore. Strikes me that the sort of barbed criticism DSB has quoted is hardly likely to endear a player to the club or the fans. Don't disagree that it might well not endear a player to the club and we all draw lines in different places. I wouldn't pos...

Coz you didn't suggest there was owt wrong in 2017, when we were W18 D9 L8 at the same point, because you liked Parky and the way he played? :-) Match day 35 in that season we went to Fleetwood who were above us at the time with ourselves scnuthorpe and them battling for second spot and overran the...

I suspect it's one of both of: 1) Like Plymouth, they are the best team. You're entitled to think they don't have better players, but if they keep up their current ppg against the top 6 I'm pretty confident they'll go up as champions, deservedly so, and that's pretty good evidence as to how good th...

Re: Pied and Prejudice, Wigan (A) 27/02/04.
Style wise to me a win is a win. But I’d question anyone to describe last night as exciting. I think most fans were voted. It’s not exciting when you create next to nothing and pass the ball between your centre halves. This for me is where the style debate breaks down. I’d far rather watch Morais p...

Re: Pied and Prejudice, Wigan (A) 27/02/04.
Whew - that's nearly as tough as an Insano post! I certainly enjoyed us spanking Sunderland (less so Exeter - it was too one sided to be competitive for me). But I'm not sure I rate a win over Lincoln City as high as a win at Old Trafford, or even a draw v Bayern Munich... As for the almost heretic...

Re: Pied and Prejudice, Wigan (A) 27/02/04.
An Allardyce, Parkinson or Megson side would never have gotten to the EFL Trophy Final. They're never beating Sunderland 6-0, Exeter 7-0, or getting in back to back 5-0 wins in the league. We've seen both the highs and the lows of Brand Evatt. I don't think the lows are any lower than we've experien...

Re: From a Pompey fan what’s your view on Boltons chance for remaining few games?
I can’t say I wouldn’t be disappointed with not winning the league. That triple negative made my head spin. We've had our own injury crisis, which has coincided with a big drop off in form. We've managed to just about keep pace, but it's looking tough when you see our upcoming fixtures. I do...

Re: North by North West. Away to Blackpool Sat 24th Feb, 3-0'clock
I'm curious. How many times do our rivals, or other teams in the league, or indeed in any league, change formation on a game-by-game basis? They might play a full back who is more defensive or more attacking, or switch out a destroyer in midfield for a quarterback-type - but I honestly don't know ho...

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.
Matheson has finally got his loan move. He's off to Ireland until the end of June. Hope he does well. Seems like he's on his way out, although its early days and this may be a good way of getting him competitive game time. Quite like the player, think he's been a good addition to the squad but that...

Aye, I was pretty certain that Baxter saves that 2nd goal, at least. Possibly the 1st one too. Hutchinson is unlikely to be coming back as a challenger for that shirt (though I guess stranger things have happened). I think it's a bit of an odd one, especially when considering we could have recalled ...

Also, I saw Baxter on the way into the stadium today. What I didn't see was a cast. Bit of strapping, maybe.

Re: Red cards and Red Kits, Bolton v Charlton - 17th Feb 2024 3pm
Look at our remaining fixtures and Derby and Pompey’s form. Does anyone in heart of hearts have much confidence in us? To me we have a run of the exact sorts of games we struggle with even when we are at our best. And we are far from that right now. Baxter is in a cast so sounds like he’s a long wa...

Though you could make an argument, in a home game we really should be winning, to have CMG starting instead of Maghoma.

Re: Wandering, Why come back home? Bolton v Wycombe - 13th Feb 2024 19:45pm
Forrester was out on the pitch pre-warm-up last night, as he was vs Barnsley, doing shuttle runs up and down the touchline. He's not far away at all. Do like the bloke. I'm still unconvinced with Toal when the ball is at his feet - I think, from what I've seen, that Forrester does that bit of the jo...
