Re: The Cup rests on the Bar: Barnsley (H), League Cup, Tue 10 Aug @ 8pm

I hope it isn’t Brocky, we have Gordon as replacement left back and if IE can’t rely on him then why do we keep him? Brocky is a right back and never really impresses on the left so for me I’d definitely play Gordon and see if he can hack it without the threat of losing league points. He’s impressed...

Re: The Cup rests on the Bar: Barnsley (H), League Cup, Tue 10 Aug @ 8pm

I’m afraid whatever team IE fields Barnsley will be just that bit too strong for us. I’m sure we’ll give them a game because we have plenty of spirit but they are a really good Championship side and we’re struggling to find a formula for this season yet with all the new players who have come in. It ...

All I know is that if it had been Dixon who let those in he’d have been slaughtered as another Billy C!!

Re: The Olympics

Anybody else got mixed feelings about Dina Asher Smith failing in the 100 metres and then pulling out of the 200 as well because she was a big hope of a medal but as she’d insisted that, despite warnings from the IOC not to, at the medal ceremony she’d be taking the knee on the podium? Maybe that ac...

Re: Season Predictions

I think if we can get another competent striker in, maybe hopefully the young guy from Manure on loan, then I see no reason we can’t be pushing for top six. I don’t see the majority of sides actually being any better than those we faced in L2 last year, so if we can just get our firepower working, w...

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.

There’s surely more to defending than just size but let’s not forget that apart from our central defenders we do also have the likes of Williams and Bako who have height and will help out at the back. I think with IE’s systems it’s more important that the defenders are good on the ball, since that’s...

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.

Whilst you can’t disagree in principle with IE, you do have to sometimes allow for the exceptional. Ivan Klasnic was hardly a workhorse but I’d have him in my side any time for his goal scoring. Jimmy Greaves, Georgie Best and many others weren’t revered for their work rates but you couldn’t argue a...

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.

I agree Rico should be scoring a few at least but he doesn’t seem to have the ability to get above the ball and head down as against his defensive headers which are all headed up and away. He can work on that but first and foremost he’s a defender and we have others who would be more likely to score...

Re: Pre-season frendlies

Brilliant start for Cloughie, wish we’d have brought him back here where I’m sure he could have done the job for us. Good luck to him anyway.

Re: Pre-season frendlies

Surprised we’re playing Williams and Tutte in the same half, thought IE would have mixed them but I suppose it isn’t really that key at this stage and just about giving players minutes?

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.

I think using technology to view players is definitely the right way to go these days, rather than relying on one or two scouts who can only see a few matches physically. You can view as many as you like and then if need be, go and see and meet them. This has to be the way forward and hopefully will...

Re: Pre-season frendlies

Solid performance and although it’s only their first game, it’s still a concern that we squander so many chances. I’m sure this will only harden IE’s resolve to bring in another quality front man because unless we do, all the good work done by the rest of the team will be wasted. It may seem expensi...

Re: Returning to the ground

Mine too so it’s safely in my Apple Wallet ready for the open. I actually think we’ll have a cracking attendance for the first game, hopefully around 14 to 15k which will be brilliant for the players and IE. If it’s much less than that it’ll be a real disappointment.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.

And the exits are; Ali, Fonz, Greenidge, Comley and Gordon. Only one I’d think of keeping is Young Gordon who seemed to do well out on loan and with the reserve side available next year, could learn alongside our other young players.
