Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

If he wanted leave (or was at least open to the possibility of leaving) and we could reach a deal that would be agreeable to all parties, I'd thank him for his efforts and let him go. He's very likely one of our highest earners, possibly even the highest, and I think based on performances this seaso...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

Iles is reporting we're interested in signing Kieran Sadlier, a winger from Rotherham United. He's out of contract at the end of the season and could apparently be available for a reduced transfer fee.

Re: Good deeds...

Seems the best place for this to go. Saw a clip of Andy Burnham on NW news earlier talking about a homelessness charity he is involved with. He was asked how it's funded and he said that it was a charity and that he contributed himself. Someone on Twitter pointed out that he contributes 15% of his ...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

Silverwood just claimed in his post-match interview there are "positives coming out of this". I can only assume he was referring to the touring group's lateral flow tests.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

We bowl them out for 267 and they don't even have to bat again to win.

Absolutely inexcusable.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

Bairstow now out for just five. In truth, he could've been out two or three times before that.

The gap in quality between Root and the rest of our batsmen is gigantic.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

Why is Bairstow even thinking about playing that shot to that delivery?

I get a sense we might be in for a big session or two for England here.

I don't quite know why I think that. Perhaps it's just a belief that our big name players will show a bit of pride.

I knew posting this was a mistake.

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

I also admit to being slightly shocked at the £300k figure when I first read it, but it’s from Nixon so could be well wide of the mark. There’s a reason Charles was getting a lot of hype over the summer. Has a bit of ‘X factor’ in the final third, is always looking to make something happen whether ...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

I suspect if Doyle wasn’t so wasteful we wouldn’t be paying for him. I also suspect there’s some incentives in that price. But if it was the other way round there has to be a point where you wouldn’t sell to another team in your league just to get a wage off the books - they were after a million qu...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

That fee, if correct, feels like the kind of deal Gartside used to sign off. I hope it's "rising to" rather than it simply being the agreed price.

It won't offer much those in this thread don't already know (or have already posted about) but I thought THIS ARTICLE was a good summation of England's batting woes.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

To be fair, I just think Hameed was undone by some high quality opening bowling. As for the commentary, I'm pleased to hear Gower's voice again but it would be helpful if he wasn't a split second ahead of the video footage. He's audibly gasping at the bowler's delivery before it's even pitched for c...

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet

I'm not sure why anyone would hanker after Langer as coach. If I remember correctly the choice was between Silverwood and Gary Kirsten and it seems clear we made the wrong decision. As has been noted though, the problem is structural. This is the end result of a failure, over a number of years, to p...

Re: January 2022 Transfer Thread

Nixon's reporting that we're close to agreeing a deal to sign Anthony Hartigan. Not to quibble, but Nixon has been asked whether a deal is close and he said "Want him. Down to agreeing a fee next month. Been after lad for some time." Not that I'm very into deciphering vague inferences that imply va...
