Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign
^^ Just as an aside, 2017 - we had a bit of a hiccup from here, last 5 games netting only 7 points, which kept us guessing until 2 to play (or so)... Edit: Game 42 - L to Scunthorpe out nearest competitors - big game bottle jobs. Game 43 - L to Oldham - I mean local derby of some league importance ...

Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign
The bookies are optimistic enough to be offering 1/125 on Pompey, But yeah, win 5 and we leave Pompey needing 7 points from 5 games and Derby needing all 12 from 4, it feels a bit glue-sniffing to think Pompey are not going to manage that. We draw a couple and it starts to look very tough. Edit: It'...

Re: Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Bare Bones....
I think keeper for keeper, there's not a lot in it. I do think we look a chunk more shaky as a defensive unit with Coleman - just a little less trusting and maybe more likely to concede, but not particularly unhappy with either. Think Coleman had a pretty poor start - but that can happen when you've...

Grand win. Much needed and decently entertaining. Tougher tests to come, but you can't get more than 3 points for the win.

I'm getting a bit lost on the "best manager for years" - I mean Allardyce started quarter of a century ago. More recently, last 10 years, we've had the tail end of Freedman, Lennon, Parky, Hill and then we're heading up to completing year 4 of IE. I think most would agree, Dougie, NL and Hill weren'...

I do think the crowd (not all of it, but enough) could get quite jittery early, if it doesn't click, so hoping for a fast start....
We wouldn't want to watch them play themselves into contention as they did at theirs, coz we saw where that could lead.

Re: What's Ste Evan's Age? 61, I think. Stevenage away. 29/03/2024 - 3pm
I'm a bit baffled: We're in third place in the league table despite internationals and injuries, not losing games and not having the best of luck with officials. We have good players and no real reason to believe we're going to be handed promotion on a plate. In what way are we so much different th...

You know there's trouble at 't'mill when the wise sages are spinning up the demons that the only alternatives feed off virgin blood, yet if recent memory serves, the teams that have gone up in the autos have looked pretty decent (without doing all the things Evatt teams using the "better way" do.), ...

Re: The Politics Thread
Looking for love in all the wrong places. The problems have long since ceased to be political. They're deeply rooted in economics and a failing system. Yet time after time average Joe gets told it's his / her fault. It's racists, it's liberals, it's Putin, it's war, it's pandemics, it's wage demands...

Re: The Politics Thread
Privatisation. What a failure it's generally been. Like most of the policies prevalent in the 1980's. Sell "the people" something they owned in the first place, on the basis that private business would just throw money at it, because they're philanthropic. Watch as the corporates take divvies each y...

TBF (and it was tongue in cheek), think I said I could see similar too. I mean it's all relative, but decent for us yesterday.

Re: Race to the tape: 2024's League One promotion campaign
Great result if and only if we can take advantage. Given recent results, I have serious doubts. Obviously hoping I will be proven spectacularly wrong this time next week. It’s certainly a huge boost. We’ve hit the fabled international break rest we’ve been talking about for so long and had the mass...

On a slightly different tract and as not much of a "royalist," maybe the fcuking worms will give the woman a break now. The public interest and the public are interested clearly gets mixed up somewhere.

Yup. I've finally been persuaded of something by Farage/Anderson (not)
Wasn't even aware they'd mentioned it (but not surprised that they may have)
I also wasn't enamoured with other obvious alterations. No need.

Re: Financiers, investors and white knights: What next for FV?
What generally happens is, one division up, becomes less sustainable, because you still chase "success" and the numbers are larger. I dunno where this notion of "sustainable" at football actually lives (outside of bottom end L1/top end L2 type scenario. If we head up the leagues, we need investment ...

Re: General Chit Chat
Ridiculous. But the notion that it's been picked by Nike is probably only partially correct. Some dick in the FA has sanctioned it.
