Golf has gone to another level. At one time if you hit the fairway you were safe from everything. Now, you have angled fairways, deliberately opposite-grained semi rough and greens like helter skelters . It's a whole new ball-game (pardon the pun) and yes, Woods is so good his bad days are better t...

This thread is a foreign language to me. Tango, what happened to Light, Home, Third and Radio Luxemburg (208 metres with Dan Dare!)? Dunno Monty. Guess they all went out with the last of the bakelite radios (always baffled me when my dad used to listen to the "wireless" yet there were wires all ove...

Thanks, Tango! Not sure why some of these posters are for the German version - I saw it in English and don't remember the subtitle " The Black Knight ". I have to confess I fell in love with a number of female stars in my adolescence including Lauren Bacall and Ingrid Bergman. Liz was just the firs...

All going crackers.
Rio Ferdinand signs new 5 year deal.....at £120,000 per week. Ronaldo to sign new deal at.....................£150,000 perweek. There is no man on earth worth these sort of figures for a week's work, especially playing sport. This is the reason ticket prices go throught the roof and players have loy...

Happy days and a great time for Maltese Falcons and Casablancas and stuff. And then there was Weismuller of course. Sorry, got a bit carried away there but Dujon might remember a few of them. Well, I've seen all of them and even own a few but I'm not sure I saw them when they first came o...

Saw the original Third Man LGM, Cotton and Welles, very atmospheric. Top film! (Don't suppose you saw it when in was first released in '49.) Fortunately they've never re-made it. I did. I was ten and a weekly visit to the cinema was a big treat. I remember the zither music of the film theme and a l...

Saw the original Third Man LGM, Cotton and Welles, very atmospheric. No real surprises here for mine, but I'd go for Gregory Peck and Jean Simmons in THE BIG COUNTRY (one of my all time favourite films)as a close second. http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/7095/dirtyxl2.jpg http://img120.imageshack.u...

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/afp/20080414/tod-fbl-isr-israel-offbeat-1066d3e.html  I imagine some people may blame Megson for this, personally I reckon he's in the clear for this one  But are you absolutely sure DLH? He could have been over there in an advisory capacity on crowd control....

Sure, I'd like to see a Brit win - but we're all lucky to be around to witness one of the greatest sportsmen of all time do his thing, and I hope he gets it done tonight. Hmm, a bit like idolatory there mummy. He er, did have a few advantages, like never having to work the amateur ranks or do it th...
