Jack has confirmed that he meant the confirmation of Collins signing.

Breath people, this is going to be a long 10 hours otherwise.

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.

Rico is out for at least a month. We are trying to sign a centre half. Iles has said they are only rumours for now. Nothing concrete. I'd usually trust Jack, but as Blu says it could have been a misunderstanding. If Jack says it's confirmed, though, he's had it from the club. It might be the club d...

A fun Bet Vitor tweet has our 3 main forwards (Vic, Dion and Collins) on a combined 95 League One goal involvements in the past 18 months.

Bod brings that up to 101.

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.

It’s way above expectations for this window I think. And certainly nobody can say Evatt hasn’t had the financial backing. Proof is in the pudding of course and now it’s about ensuring we get ourselves up. He has been backed. Somewhere between £1.5m and £2m of fees on strikers. A similar amount annu...

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.

I did scratch my head as this is what he wrote; "Collins is the club’s most costly purchase since Jay Spearing in the summer of 2013, signing a two-and-a-half-year-deal at the Toughsheet Stadium, taking him to the summer of 2027." Now if it IS 3.5yrs then even better :D But lets enjoy the fact we'v...

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.

The fact this was the most obvious signing in the world 2.5 years and £750k ago still kills me, but I'm thrilled to have him here.

This'll be fun.

Collins signed on a 2.5yr deal. Hopefully there's an option to extend?
3.5, no? 2027.

0.5 to summer of 2024, plus 3 to make it to 2027.

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.

Sounds like Collins could be only new one through the door today. Which I mean is good if santos and Toal are fit, but I’d still prefer us to mitigate the risk if at all possible. I think everyone would prefer it, but we're carrying a lot of wages now. We'll be paying 6 strikers pretty soon. 25 sen...

Anyone know anything about either player?
He's had time with the England development set-up, so should be easy to get some decent information on him.

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.

Anyway, enough of that.

We're very clearly winning the league. Posh away? Pah! Blackpool away where we've not won since Callaghan was Prime Minister? Easy!

With a fag on, lads. With a bloody fag on.

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.

We've clearly used "The Bond" to inflate the wage budget a bit, so maintaining that would likely be a real strain if we stay down. Increased ticket prices might help, but if we don't go up it could also mean selling a couple of prized assets. Santos would be an obvious one, with 12 months on his dea...

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.

It’s probably separate thread worthy when they announce the prices but I do note the club have said prices to be announced for STs next season and they are going up by 10-20%. Apparently we’d be fourth most expensive in league one and 4th cheapest in championship. So I’d say it’s pretty clear - pre...

if Collins offers what Vic offers and we make £750k profit then surely that'd be sensible business.
But he doesn't.

Collins and Vic are radically different players.

We need both.

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.

News out of the Bristol end would seem to indicate that we did the obvious thing. Split the difference and made the additional money contingent on promotion. If that's correct this is actually a very sensible transfer fee. Slightly more than we paid for Vic (the up front part) for last season's PotY...

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.

It's important that Collins can play with any of Dan, Vic, or Charles. He can also play #10 and would allow us to to switch to a 4-3-3 next season if Evatt decided to go in that direction.

Not sure it's quite up there with the BBC's Phil McCann reporting on the petrol delivery shortage... :D
Realising Mark Pougatch is essentially called "Skidmark" on all paperwork was a real life event for my son.

"He's called Poo Gash Mark!" followed by hysterical laughter for about 4 hours.
