Because if there's one thing Allardyce knows, it's how to handle young talent. Just ask Vaz Te, Augustyn, Fojut, Sinclair . . . I'm thinking there is some selective recollection going on in this thread . . . Nolan, Hunt, O'Brien... Has it ever occurred to anyone that the Wanderers have 12th choice ...

I agree with HP, Allardyces strength is centered around him picking players that buy into his methods. He was able to do that here by basically starting from scratch and finding foreigners. At England he doesn't have that luxury, as we have so few decent players that it is vital for him to get the ...

He isn't an England candidate, and in reality probably never really should have been. thats wack , exboss would be the ideal candidate , he's got all his american sabermetrics science stuff and a system which people would fit into , this would work no matter how 'good' england players are , thus we...

Van Gaal interested. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/7113365.stm I think he would be an acceptable shout. He's a cult figure over here for his impromptu karate kick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pb1t7ZehPBo I notice that some senior people share my view that Allardyce coul...

I know this is slipping off topic, but the German/Dutch relationship during WWII is very complicated. The Dutch provided the most members of the SS from outside of Germany (In the SS Wiking Division), and as a % of their population, sent more Jews to the concentration camps than any other nation. I'...

Here's a thought-provoking piece on youth football from our old enemy Martin Samuel http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/columnists/martin_samuel/article2910642.ece (One could add that if he were put on a pitch in proportion with his own size it'd be wider than it is long) Interseting; but I thou...

You need a culture of the good getting through for the excellent to emerge. And for the good to get through you need a culture of developing the promising. There is a real difficulty in England-qualified players getting through. There is a higher proportion of home-grown players in the italian and ...

not going through would see the back of old redface and probably give the team a well deserved kick up the arse too. Sadly I doubt it, my equine chum. If they win it's their glory, if they lose it's the manager's fault. This is the kind of blame-free cosseted head-in-clouds existence which is encou...
