Re: Choose the matchday music

I went for 633 Squadron. Noticable from the centre circle that, if we finish with Thunderstruck before the teams emerge and 633 starts up, there's an audible frisson of (seems to me to be) excitement that ripples round the stadium.

Like to keep Thunderstruck on the playlist though. I like that one.

Re: Murder on the Orient Express. Home to Leyton O, Sat 23rd Dec, 15:00

No. The luck is that the original header a yard either side of Jerome and it’s a goal. We had no control over that and it was lucky it was straight at him. "We need bodies on the line defending!" "NOT LIKE THAT!" Just stop it  The context is we were 3-0 up at home to Leyton bloody Orient and o...

Re: Murder on the Orient Express. Home to Leyton O, Sat 23rd Dec, 15:00

In the end it was just luck. Not some massively determined effort the dividing line on the day was just a bit of luck. This is where this line of bollocks gets frustrating, Insane. You so often demanded we see lads throwing their bodies on the line and putting in tackles, as a sign of their charact...

Re: Murder on the Orient Express. Home to Leyton O, Sat 23rd Dec, 15:00

We are only dominant because of football finance. We are outperforming our spending too, if we're saying budget should equal league placement :conf: Really not sure what you think you're proving here, Insane. Not much, as things stand. You've said yourself recently we need to spend more if we want ...

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.

Are we not allowed to discuss upgrading players and areas of relative weakness in the transfer thread? :conf: Sure, but for people to suggest binning off a player who was widely regarded as one of the league's best prospects last season because he's had a couple of bad games is bizarre, reactionary...

Switched our wingbacks
Then switched 'em back.

Echo that Bod is playing well. Ball just sticks to him so much better than with Vic. Neither centre mid having stellar games right now though

Re: Who opened the door? My money is on Janus! 2024 January transfer thread.

Gutted for Dan, just as he was starting to come into his own. Got to be at least one striker signing next month then - Dion, Vic and Bod are the only ones we've got who most would trust to pose any sort of danger. All respect to Cameron, but he's a distant emergency option at best. As Ghost says (an...

Decent loanees to cover the potential/probable absences of CMG, Jones and Iredale. Possibly another striker, possibly another hard-tackling midfielder. But definitely loan cover for our wandering Wanderers.

Would like to see Matheson on Tuesday. Ashworth too. Need more evidence to see what they’re made of.
Matheson has tweaked a hamstring. Said it was hopefully short term, but he didn't look hopeful about being back for Tuesday

Or another way to look at it - a game against a side we could well play twice in the league next season. Possibly even scrapping against for promotion, if we progress at the rate we're all hoping.

Side towards the bottom of the Prem, struggling for form, possibility of them prioritising the league. Chance of a proper upset there. Maybe the TV companies might see it the same way.

Not the best draw, but it could have been worse.

Re: A whiff of Sulphur. Home to Harrogate Town, Sat Dec 2nd 3'O clock. F. A. Cup.

I think he'll go pretty strong for the FA Cup. Coleman, one of two others, maybe a look at Bod with Dion, maybe Forrester, a few other maybes but strong. And then ring the changes for Port Vale (albeit we're in a place where we have good options). See, I'd have thought it would be the other way aro...

Re: Whatever floats your boat.. V Oxford United, Tuesday 28th Nov.7-45.

I'd probably rather have Traff, tbh, but Nathan has been a great signing and looks well capable of performing at Championship level. Just for clarity (because I can see where this could very quickly end up) I'm not saying I'd rather have Baxter over Trafford right now. I just meant in terms of the ...

Baxter's two big saves... https://twitter.com/OfficialBWFC/status/1729840129051689209 ...and some lovely quotes from him. For me, my job is more than just the saves. Yes, it is important I step up with them when needed and I think there has been huge improvement on that since I came in. I have to t...

Re: Whatever floats your boat.. V Oxford United, Tuesday 28th Nov.7-45.

I do find the argument that "yeah, our squad looks alright now, but look how weak it was when we had three or four players out injured" rather curious. Show me a team in this league, or the one above, come to that, that WOULDN'T struggle for strength in depth with nearly half a dozen first-teamers ...
