Re: The athletics/running thread

Gutted I didn’t get to watch it live. Fantastic achievement. I may not have run this week but I did compete in track and field (badly) at the weekend so that ‘achievement’ is justifying my 2 plus icecreams a day habit at the moment. Also, junior GG turned her attentions from cricket to athletics la...

Re: Pre-season 2022/23

Classic Evatt, he’s irked Jacqui Oatley I see. I have no doubt club doctor etc are involved any decision, like Boris said he says things we want to hear. Clarkson and Keys are also tweeting about how the weather isn't that bad, in my day, this country, etc. Not the company I'd wish to keep. And not...

Jake Weightman, I salute you. UK's first global 1500m champ since Cram in 83.
To take on and then hold off the Olympic champion in the style he did took nerve and class. Brilliant.

Worth 3 and a half minutes of your time I'd say...

First run since 17th May and longest since 7th Feb. Only 3.85k but it’s a start. Managed to resist the amazing ice cream shop at 3.6k!

Which way to Ironman registration? 🤔
General registration opens tomorrow. You've 12 months to train up. Get on it.

Re: Deal or no deal? - Summer 2022 Transfer gossip!

I've been on here for 15 years and, tbh, this has to be one of the worst gossip threads in all that time. Not even a "my cousin's best friend's sister has just seen X in Chorley KFC." Just putting it out there. :D Well my daughter's mothers sister said that she overhead two Currys sales reps in Tel...

Not for me. I'll be deep in Beverley, East Yorkshire.
10k then beers Friday neet followed by a leisurely parkrun round the Westwood opposite the racecourse in the morning. And a MASSIVE spoons fry up obviously.
Fnarrrrr!

But man, the euphoria of crossing that finish line is immense.
But does it beat making last orders when all the odds were against you? :D
If you're quick enough you can do both......

Re: The athletics/running thread

I understand why it costs so much but still baulk at sending it. Especially with all the kit you need. If I manage a marathon next year without a limb falling off I'll consider it for 2024 😁 Yeah. The start up cost isn't cheap. But you can pick up some cheap gear to start with and upgrade if you wa...

Re: The athletics/running thread

That is indeed great news. I thought I heard it was ending this year. Didn't get there to watch in the end. A few mates did it though. It crosses my mind occasionally but I just struggle with the concept of the training required. And the cost brings me out a bit Bijou Bob 😁 The cost is prohibitive ...

Not me directly but I'm excited for this weekend. Ironman returns to Bolton and a number of my friends (with mutual acquaintances on here) are taking part this weekend. Paddle boarding on a local reservoir this weekend. Looking forward to it though I’ve never done it before. Should be fun. Would it be pedantic of me to point out this is a) not tonight and b) a sporting endeavour and therefore belongs in the sporty type thread? That way I won't be the only one (see...

Here's the big question, do your supermarkets have toilets? Not a thing in this that London even in the actual supermarkets (rather then express). Not sure if it's a London, or Southern thing. You're in the wrong part of London :conf: All the supermarkets (not locals or directs) had toilets in. All...
