Welcome, Doc. I'm surprised weather conditions make travel impossible days in advance.

Yes  - it was why I said "welcome doc".

I avoid puns where possible - have you not heard of laying out welcome mats?

yes - I have!

but - I suspect it was only obvious to you that you had gone through the thought process:

Hmmmm... I could write "welcome Matt" - but that's a pun - so I'll write "welcome Doc" !!

you know that - but to everyone else you were just saying "welcome doc" and not amusingly avoiding a pun!

so - when Zulu does the pun that you avoided - it caused me to say "eh?" - cos you put an angry smilie as if somehow Zulu had copied you or stolen your idea!!

Think I need to out Dr Matt. I am his mate, the one who couldn't get to the match. He tries to be supportive but thinks Rugby a superior game and, if pushed supports West Ham (or as we know them "there's six points already then") It's not his fault, he is a Southerner and needs our understanding. Still and all, there's many who (wait for it, pun alert so no-one thinks I didn't mean it) A-door Matt (adore Matt? geddit, Oh suit yourselves)
Bath is a lovely town but, as far as residents are concerned, they don't know there is only one O in Coyle, and believe there's a R in Barth.
Good luck tomorrow...COYWM

Tbh, bish old dog collar, I wrote Welcome Matt without thinking, then noticed and changed it (because puns are painful). The angry smilie was not because Zulus stole my idea but because he lacked the restraint I would have expected in a senior moderator. For the rest, I wasn't sure what you didn't understand (I didn't think you had used a Canadianism btw).
