Does anybody else feel the same way?

Hi new member here, not gonna say too much cos I'll never stop.

Bin a trotter since early 70's & this is the first season I aint had a season ticket since before Rioch (I really miss that football). Anyhow, only been to Spurs & Watford at home and Blackburn away so far & it doesn't look like I'm missing much.

The really sad thing is I don't miss it. I don't wake up on a Saturday morning now wishing I was going to the match. The reason is I just don't like the style of football anymore. It may be effective but it isn't enjoyable (IMO)

I yearn for the halcyon days of the Rioch era & 4-4-2, ball on the deck, pass & move. Look don't get me wrong, Sam's done a great job & we are now a recognised prem team. But it aint for me!

I would give up the prem tomorrow (honest) up for more entertaining footie in the Championship.

Bet I sound like a right old misery bleating doom & gloom don't I?

Regards,
NumptyNumbNuts

Welcome NNN. I would dare to say that many will not agree with you, and I cant say I do either. Your opinion is welcome however. :D For me it's simple, living overseas I need Bolton to be in the Prem to see them. That, and I can always laugh at the glory chasers here when Bolton stuff another big'un.

I'll stick with what it is now, if we played like arsenal I'd be stuck with web highlights.

Welcome NNN - say what you think. you'll get shouted down sometimes, but a variety of opinions is what makes this a good forum. Enjoy!

Howdo N3. Your point of view is entirely valid. I may not agree with it, but it's valid. Jump in, that entertainment v success debate is never far from the surface; it can create aggravation but it can also create interesting conversation, and if you engage in one without getting narked about the other your talkativeness will be welcome.

Oh and yearners get regular treats from Sluffy's Dates - posts about specific past games which often stimulate further happy memories.

Above all: enjoy!

Being absolutely honest, at the back end of 2000, facing a trip away to West Ham trying to avoid going bottom I remember thinking how sick I was of constantly being a shit premiership side and would give anything to swap it for the championship winning season of '97.

Then we drew at West Ham, which kept us above them, who we then fought tooth and claw with to survive another year and see WH relegated. Since then we've gone from strength to strength and even made EUROPE. How could you not want to be there when we achieve it again this year!

As someone else has posted already, pull up a chair, but this ain't the teacups, it's the (Pepsi-Max) Big One.

Welcome aboard Numpty, great first post. You'll find all the diversity of opinion of every kind of football imaginable on TW. It isn't always pretty, but it's pretty good :)

I was raised on the Rioch Revolution, so I think I'm spoiled to some extent but yes, I am beginning to feel the same way as you. Although every game being an expensive 10 hour round tripnow has had a lot to do with that too.

As for SH? I'm sure you'll find out before long :)
