After logging out still happening. If its any help when looking at the profile editing page under date format, it doesn't have that script (d D etc can't remember it all) that was there just has the word 'english'

I don't know why 'english' turns up in your date settings. Mine I set as:
D M d, Y H:i
which gives me (using Commie's post above as the example):

If you click on the link just left of the date format entry box on your profile page it'll take you to the PhP site. The top block of the page shows what entries are available and how they display.
