Tell me about it boris, I once said that I'd never have adverts on this site, so I am well gutted.

The cost of the site has come down recently, but it's just the constant amount I've had to pay over the years that's just got a bit silly now.

It's £15 a month, so over a year that's £180. People in the past have been great in helping contribute, but that was over a few years ago now so I've had to pay that for 2 - 3years which also included months where it could stretch to £30 a month.

It is a simple fact that if 50 members donated £2 for the year that would make my life a whole lot easier. I've even thought of doing somewhere where you could pay to get rid of the adverts, but that's almost like selling something to people.

I don't want to seem like I'm trying to guilt or push people in to paying for it. If I did have 50 people who were willing to donate £2 because they wanted to I'd be more than happy to take the adverts off, infact I've already had somebody message me willing to donate. I really appreciate that, but I don't want only a few people to give me money because I'd feel bad for them.

These ad's might might not even bring any revenue in, but I have to give it a go :S

I agree with boris. I don't mind the adverts but don't particularly like the links for the cliksor advert. I like this site and would happily donate.

I'm curious. Having seen these costs, and given you have a reasonable size membership(?), I would have thought you would have potential to get advertising revenue from companies in the north west that would cover those kind of costs?

Another question - is there anything to do with the inclusion of these adverts that appears to cause my CPU usage to rocket when I am on the forum index page? I haven't noticed this before - but then I don't spend much time on that particular page so it might not be new.

We do have a pay pal account yes, I used it for the t-shirts. I tell you what, I'll take the adverts down and stick up a donate button instead and see what happens.

Just a suggestion - how about putting an Amazon (or similar) banner somewhere on the forums list page? I'm fairly sure it doesn't cost anything and hopefully the referral earnings from members' purchases would be enough to cover your overhead costs for this place.

Well, first off I'd say that I was overwhelmed by the response. I've said to people who have donated that I'm really happy that they enjoy this site so much they are willing to help it stay up and running.

So the yearly cost of the site is £180 minimum, so far the total that has been donated is £150.

I am over the moon with that, the members of this site are awesome. If I'd have had £50 I would have been happy because anything to help me pay for the site would have been great.

So thank you everybody who made a contribution, your help is greatly appreciated.

What the money is going to do initially is pay for the t-shirts to be made. One of the main reasons we don't get as many t-shirts done as we'd like is because I have to pay for them up front, which in the past has been anything from £100 - £300.

One thing I would like to do is ask people to pay for their t-shirts in advance. In the past I have had people ask for 4 or so t-shirts, I've paid for them and then they didn't want them anymore. I have plenty of left over shirts dotted about around mine and my parents homes.

I'm just not sure how people will respond to that, would you mind paying £10 up front for a t-shirt that may take 1 - 2 weeks to arrive? We've been going for a long while now and never had problems with people receiving t-shirts etc, so I'd hope that people could trust us with their money and get those t-shirts to them asap.

Kev, I think you've been very generous with the running of the site and paying for t-shirts up front. I think it's fair for people to pay up front. People know what the quality will be and what it will look like. Not much different to ordering it off an other t'interweb site.

As far as paying up front is concerned (I'm not in the market though) I would have expected that, wait or no wait.
