Site Demographics...........

Post by Bench » Wed Aug 10, 2005 1:37 pm

Just out of idle curiousity (and yes I am bored), I was wondering what the make-up of the site was in terms of age-groups. No need to post and embaress yerself if you have no wish too - simply vote........

as a marketing grad i have to point out that this is not a fair way to assess the demographic

the under 18s wont be arsed to vote, therefore missing them off
and the over 50s are struggling to suss out how to vote
the in betweens have feck all else to do

now psychology students can slag that off but i made my point

You injure the sensibilities of us "more mature" members! Of course we've sussed out how to vote. Having said that, as I'm not 51 until November, do you think I should have voted as a member of the 40-50 subset or the Over 50 subset?

I agonised over that for quite some time before firmly coming down on the side of Over 50.

I've got to go now, as the nurse has brought me a nice warm drink and a biscuit.

Just voted and surprise , surprise nobody has voted in the under 18´s catagory.

Maybe, just like in politics , they think they are not allowed :conf:

Yep your very right in stating the site has a good mix of age groups, yet the site has gained I am sure a reputation as a mature site that deals in good banter and topic. A good deal of this has a lot to do with the MOD's and Admin staff but also the members. The people that come on this site are quickly tuned in to the fact that this is not a site that encourages swearing, deliberate enticing and idiot nonsence. Even though we are all guilty of it at times, thanks to the MOD's Admin and especially the members, we have set a high standard within the football forum community which I havent seen rivaled yet.

Being a mod, i'd have to say that you lot have made it an absolute joy. We've only had a couple of daft moments, but really, it's been a doddle!

Cheers for those kind words, Soldier. But I must echo what mof has already said - you guys are what makes the site works. Sure, we've had a couple of upsets and a few minor incidents - but all in all its been hassle free. Our hard work has gone into developing the site and keeping it fresh - and making sure that people want to get involved and contribute. By doing this we have built a platform that has grown more popular and therefore attracted new users - you guys!!

Lets keep working on this together, so that we can all say this:
thanks to the members, we have set a high standard within the football forum community which I havent seen rivaled yet

That pesky 1%, its doubled next week we'll only be ablt to influence 5% of the vote, the site will do the rest. AI, but not as we know it Captain.

think about it for a second.

not all of those can be perfect percentages can they. so do some of your own math

1 vote = 5.2 %

5 votes = 26.3 %

3 votes = 15.7 %

5 votes = 26.3 %

3 votes = 15.7 %

2 votes = 10.5%

I have rounded those down to one decimal place, and the total is 99.7% which would be 100% if i noted down all of the decimal places.

so if you look at that, it's obvious that the code just uses the number that is generated, not rounding it up.

if we do round them up

5
26
16
26
16
11

then you do get 100%

unfortunatly i'm not that clued up on the forum code as it is very complecated, and i dont want to mess anything up. so just put up with it or do your own sums :P
