Colo Colo

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Colo Colo

Post by Puskas » Mon Dec 24, 2007 2:46 pm

Colo Colo won their 59876th Chilean League title yesterday (or something round that figure, anyway....). What amazed me, though, was the level of their support throughout Chile. They're a Santiago based club, yet in Patagonia, there were people all over the streets with Colo Colo flags. Over 2000km south. Have they no local club to support?
Pah. Worse than the bloody Rags...

I watched a game in Chile last April between Union Espanola and Palestino. I did get the impression that Chile was very much dominated by a few teams - Colo Colo, Universidad de Chile and Universidad Catolica.

I'm sure there's been a Chilean poster on this forum before.

Having been to Patagonia, the answer would be no, it's too sparsely populated...although there might be a team in Punta Arenas, right down at the bottom, but still it's a 6-hour flight from Santiago.

Well, I was in Puerto Natales when I saw all the Colo Colo fans. I did ask the chap who owned the hostel I was in, but he seemed to think that "todo Chile" were Colo Colo fans...
I'm in Punto Arenas tonight. There is, it seems, a football stadium, but I haven't enquired about the team...
Oh well.

Found this thread rather amusingly random - my sister is doing a year abroad in Chile and bought me a Colo Colo top for Christmas. She insisted they're not the Man U of Chile however, apparently they're the fave team of the indigenous population??
