Man City are complete failures! Let's all laugh at 'em!

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

The playing field has just become a little un-level. The Shiek has just lost £440 million overnight. How obscene is that?

That should make a hefty dint in their reported £500 Bn fortune - drops it to all of £499.5 Bn

£440m .... out of an estimated £555 billion. He earns, oil price depending, around £300m a day.

That £440m is around 1.5 days earnings. That's 0.08% of his estimated wealth.

Think what you earn .... work out 1.5 days worth. You'd notice it ... but it wouldn't stop anything progressing, would it ?

... and that's the problem. He's about to spend £100m on a world-class player & that's the equivilant of 2.5hrs pay on an 8hr day. If you earn a the current estimated average earnings of £24,000 a year that sum is the equivilant of £30. Thirty ... British Pounds, that's less than the cost of a ticket to a Premiership game.

So the worlds biggest transfer fee, by far, is equal to the price of a family take-away. Less than the price of filling your car up. This is disposable mony. If it doesn't work out he can simply discard it.

THAT's why this type of financing is not good. It can't be stopped, it can't be regulated away and it can't be avoided. But will pervert the competition.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Yes, nothing to him, but still an obscene amount of money to be able to lose and not even notice it. Put it alongside our spending budget, where we think eight million is a fortune, and it becomes comparable, if only in a laughable way to him.

Qualification for Europe through the league being completely out of the question? That would be a downside to me of having a top 5 completely seperated from the rest (and once Arsenal sort themselves out, they will be). Another tean we're highly unlikely to beat? When Kaka is scoring against us i won't be remarking how great it is to see him in the league, we'd all hope he got injured before he played us and so we didn't have to see him.
Yes, but with respect, saying "This is unfair because City are going to be better than us!" is a bit weak, isn't it?

I do wonder if there would be as much outcry if we were suddenly taken over by such wealthy investors. I reckon we'd all find the whole thing hilarious and just go along for the weird ride with a few turning into the kind of arrogant prick that they've long sniped.

B*llox to all the money, isn't it all getting just a little boring that all these mega-millionaires are conducting their cock measuring contest in public with clubs in our league? Predictable actions, predictable results. How boring.

I never said it was unfair per se.

You (paraphrasing Samuel) said there was no obvious downside to Kaka signing for City. Them being better than us would to me class as an obvious downside.

The whole 'Well isn't it nice having him in the league', is bollocks. The only time i'd ever see him in the flesh would be when he was playing us, when i'd hope he'd be having a stinker.

In the meantime there's a fighting chance that the Citeh Massif won't get Kaka but will get Bellamy.

So, that's alright then.

So they have Bellamy. Think they are still going to need more strikers though. Jo is crap, Benjami is always hurt, Bellamy gets hurt around once a month, and Robinho is always hurt every time they play away from home. So without kaka they will still be kaka.

apparently Kaka wants a clause allowing him to leave if Citeh aren't challenging for the Premiership in 18m time.

Poor lamb. He has no idea about Citeh, has he ?!?!?

The only club I can imaging having 10x more money than even the very richest & still fecking it up.

They're going about it the wrong way. They should be nurturing and slowly growing a good team. Adding Kaka overnight won't make them a success. But were they to spend 2-3 seasons building up eventually he could be the final piece of a puzzle. By which time they'd have won some trophy's, possibly the Carling Cup and be pushing on. Bit like Villa now.

But lets not tell em that eh, bit too much like common sense

So if he was heading to the Bok on a free, we should turn him down? :-)

I think as a long-term, purely sporting project you might be right. Having said that, adding Kaka can't hurt, unless it comes at the expense at adding the other pieces of the jigsaw - and there's no indication that finances would dictate that this be the case.

But it's not just a sporting project, is it? These guys want to elevate City quickly to being a high status club and a world brand. Adding Kaka overnight is exactly the kind of thing they need to do to achieve that.

City can't defend for shit and Kaka's not going to help that. Dunne's getting past it and grumpy in his old age. Unless they get defenders and midfielders who can prevent them leaving dirty great holes at the back when they attack then they'll continue to struggle. Buying Kaka and then getting relegated would be priceless.
